COLLETTI FOR SENATE
38th District – Bergen County
COLLETTI CALLS ON GORDON TO REVEAL WHAT HE KNEW OF THE CONIGLIO-HOSPITAL DEAL
When Did Gordon Know of Coniglio’s Arrangement with Hospital?
Elmwood Park - It’s time for Assemblyman Bob Gordon to tell us what he knows about the federal investigation into his legislative partner Sen. Joseph Coniglio, says state Senate candidate Robert Colletti.
Gordon was subpoenaed in the FBI probe of his Sen. Coniglio’s involvement in more than $1.2 million in state grants being funneled to entities operating within the Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack. Gordon was recently named by the Democratic Party county officials to replace Conigilio on the ballot.
Colletti says that Gordon must have known that Coniglio was working as a $5,500 a month plumbing consultant for the hospital and that the funneling of state money to a firm employing his colleague was – if not improper – then suspect.
“I am sure that Mr. Gordon knew of Sen. Coniglio’s employment arrangement with the hospital and that he was equally aware that providing state grant money to his colleague’s employer would, at least, raise the appearance of a conflict of interest,” said Colletti.
“The question is why did Mr. Gordon stay silent? Why didn’t he raise a red flag about funding that went to an institution that is not even his legislative district? ” asked Colletti
“At a time when official government corruption is rampant in New Jersey, Bob Gordon failed to step up and take a stand against political back room deal making,” said Colletti.
“Assemblyman Gordon should reveal to the voters not only what he knows of the Coniglio affair, but if he, himself, ever signed off on any state money for the hospital.”
Colletti says New Jersey cannot tolerate any more scandals such as those that have occurred while Gordon has been in the legislature and his party has had control of the state.
“People are tired of government corruption and those who condone it,” said Colletti. “Taxpayers know that government corruption is costing them money and they want an end to it. I will end it. Bob Gordon will turn his head.”
Colletti noted that in a recent television interview Gordon said that he viewed Coniglio as a “mentor” Colletti said that while Gordon may hold Coniglio is high regard, he would be doing a disservice to taxpayers by remaining silent on possible corruption case.
“Now its time for Mr. Gordon to step up and tell us what he knew about the hospital deal and when he knew it,” said Colletti.
“When did he know that Sen. Coniglio was employed by the hospital and when did he know that state grant money was being funneled to the senator’s employer.”
