COLLETTI VOWS TO REMAIN TAXPAYER WATCHDOG

  COLLETTI FOR SENATE

38th District – Bergen County

COLLETTI VOWS TO REMAIN TAXPAYER WATCHDOG

Robert Colletti issued the following post-election statement

"I want to thank all the people who supported me and my running mates in the District 38 campaign.

Although I was not successful in the head-to-head contest with Assemblyman Gordon, the issues that I stood for won. The taxpayers of New Jersey rejected the tax relief gimmick that Mr. Gordon and the state Democratic leadership supported. And they rejected the plan to increase borrowing for Stem Cell research. I sincerely hope that Mr. Gordon returns to Trenton a wiser more fiscally conservative legislator.

I believe our campaign delivered a clear message about the impact of taxes on people’s lives, Trenton’s tax gimmicks and the influence of corruption on property taxes.

As a taxpayer and a businessman I am very concerned about the future of New Jersey.  With Democratic majorities again in place in Trenton, the taxpayers have much to fear and so does the business community. New Jersey is in a severe financial crisis and unless drastic and deep cuts are made in state spending, the Democratic majority will again raise taxes and those increases will hurt taxpayers and will further harm the state’s economy.

This was my first run for state office and I learned a lot about issues and the effort required to run a legislative campaign. I hope to use that knowledge to stay involved in state issues and to be a watchdog for taxpayers and business owners."
