Burlington— The campaign of State Senator Diane Allen and Assembly candidates Brian Propp and Nancy Griffin today issued the following statement on the revelation that the Corzine Administration has spent $4.5 million for the Governor’s secret plan to sell New Jersey’s toll roads.
“By his own admission, Governor Corzine has put New Jersey on notice for higher tolls. Now we find out that he has spent 4.5 million taxpayer dollars to study how to go about increasing what we pay to drive on the Turnpike, Parkway, and AC Expressway. And worse yet, instead of releasing the records of where all this money went and what it produced to the public, the Governor has all but told us that we don’t need to know. Governor Corzine talks a lot about accountability, and in fact asked for New Jerseyans to hold him accountable when he was sworn into office. It’s now time for him to make good on that request by releasing all records pertaining to his toll road plan and level with the voters as to what his intentions are before the Legislature stands for election in November. New Jersey has a right to know.”
