REPUBLICAN CHAIR’S ATTACK ON FREEHOLDER CANDIDATE PROVE CONTROVERSIAL
Wefer says Freeholder race should be about “policy, not politics

Morristown, June 14, 2006- Last Tuesday evening when 58 year old John Sette was Reelected Chair of the Morris County Republican Committee he had some choice words about 23 year old law student and second time Freeholder candidate, Dana Wefer. When campaigning Monday, Wefer had a few choice words for him.
During Sette’s acceptance speech last Tuesday, he said "Morris County is our turf. We're not about to give it up to the Democrats." Wefer says that the ‘it’s our turf’ attitude is the problem. “There is a real problem here, Wefer said. “There is a fundamental lack of understanding that no political party can lay claim to Morris County. It belongs to the people of Morris County’s and this insistence that it’s their turf fuels the attitude that it's okay for the freeholders to tax and hoard tens of millions of taxpayer dollars and to hold meetings at a time when most people cannot attend, Wefer said.“It’s time for a reality check, Wefer continued, “governing is about the people, not political parties.

Sette also made personal references to Wefer saying "The Democrats' big talking point is that Dana Wefer got 41 percent of the vote in last year's freeholder election. That's because Jon Corzine spent a ton of money in the county. Our goal this year is to not let her get 41 percent again. We don't even want her to get 31 percent." Wefer notes that Forrester spent a great deal of money too and that Forrester and Wefer’s then opponent, current Freeholder Director Margaret Nordstrom, even had signs together. By contrast, Wefer says, Corzine did not give her any money.

“It’s distressing that rather than taking last year’s unlikely results, considering I was outspent two to one, as an indication that Morris County residents would like the Freeholders to make some changes to the way they run the county, that Sette and the incumbents have instead decided to use it to attack me politically, Wefer
said Monday.

Wefer, the sole woman in a field of six candidates, is running on a slate with Democrats Mayor Rich Leary of Mine Hill and Councilman Jack Hartford ofChatham Township. In November they will take on a Republican slate of incumbent Freeholder John Murphy, Mayor Gene Feyl of Denville and Mayor Bill Chegwidden of Wharton. The Democrats are widely regarded at having an unprecedented opportunity to pick up seats on the Morris County Freeholder Board this year, something they have not done in over three decades.

Are you for real? Of course Morris County belongs to the people!

Are you for real? Of course Morris County belongs to the people! Guess what Dana? They're overwhelingly Republican and they like it that way!

In all honesty however, I sincerely hope that the NJ Dems are stupid enough to piss a lot of money away on Morris County Democrats.

Unfortunately for New Jersey, Democrats are far better at pissing away the taxpayers' money than their own.

Too? So wait a minute, are you actually conceding the fact that your party is far more careful with their own money than that of the taxpayers?

Boy you libs ARE losing it! First Gerardo Sandoval out in San Francisco exposes your true ideology by saying that the United States shouldn't have a military and now this!? Keep talking Roscoe!
