D'Angelo wins

Wayne D'Angelo defeated Dan Benson by a 41-37 vote to become the Democratic candidate for State Assembly in the 14th district.  D'Angelo, a labor leader and ex-Hamilton Councilman, will seek the open seat of Republican Bill Baroni, who is running for State Senator.

D'Angelo had the backing of Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein, and Hamilton Mayor Glen Gilmore.  Democratic leaders viewed him as the stronger of the two candidates in a general election.

Benson, a former Hamilton Council President and Baroni's opponent in 2005, says he will now support D'Angelo.
