Kelly HQ’s grassroots model

TOMS RIVER - At one glance, the Jack Kelly headquarters may not resemble the high-tech Myers HQ in many fashions. But Frank Luna, Kelly's campaign manager, doesn't seem to think it needs to. In an interview at the Kelly headquarters, Luna told PolitickerNJ.com ,"We're doin it the old fashion way - person to person,  grassroots, very fundamental." He calls his strategy a "typical RNC turnout model."

Luna's thoughts on Kelly's shot at winning have followed a day long theme - few observers are clear which candidate has the best shot at taking home the Congressional District 3 Republican primary.

Luna reiterated the fact that turnout in the district has remained low all day. "As of 2:40 [in the afternoon] there were less than 100 voters in three of the biggest districts in Medford" Luna said.  "I think those numbers are good for us, but at the end of the day I'm sure each camp feels equally as confident."

Person to person indeed. In the middle of Luna's interview, he bolted across the room to talk to an undecided voter on the phone. He says the campaign has been getting calls like that all day.

With the primary so close, and the battlefield remaining unpredictable, even the campaign managers aren't placing bets.

A congressman FROM Ocean County???

Yes, voter turnout has been intermittent and light. It remains to be seen who will be the ultimate victor in this bitter primary fight.

Reading that back, I feel like Dr. Suess. As soon as my pollworker spouse gets home, I shall head off to the Kelly Victory party to see if there is a reason to be there.

My own shore town has been more motivated than most, so perhaps Kelly will pull this one out.

In any event, whoever wins will get the full support 'round these parts, because an Adler victory is completely unacceptable.

Jack Kelly

Jack Kelly needs to win by a huge margin, in the 3rd district part of Ocean County, and that is not going to happen.

Tomorrow he can go back to ripping off the taxpayers as a Freeholder.
