Kelly: 3rd District GOP primary depends on ‘who does better within their base’

Hours before the end of a contentious primary, Congressional District 3 Republican candidate Jack Kelly told PolitickerNJ.com, "of course I have a shot at winning" but stressed that he knew it was "in the voters' hands."

Kelly said that the winner of the campaign will be the one "who does better within their base."

He said, "Who can bring more of their supporters to the polls - that's who will win."

When asked if he would endorse his primary opponent Chris Myers if his bid was unsuccessful, Kelly said, "It's up to the voters - who they decide is who I support." He later added he was "going to endorse the winner of this primary whether it's Kelly, Myers or Murphy."

Kelly said that he didn't believe the winner would be determined by the effectiveness of political machines. He stated that he didn't believe in the idea of a machine and that volunteers "are not part of the machine. They ‘re part of the grassroots."

He said that "literally thousands" of people had worked with the Kelly campaign, stressing the same values his campaign manager, Frank Luna, mentioned in earlier - "Good old fashioned campaigning."

Good Old Fashioned Campaigning

Door to door, family to family, friend to friend. That is what wins in Ocean County. If Chris Myers has done this, then he has a good chance. I know Jack Kelly has, for a fact.

So, here goes!!!
