DASARO TO KYRILLOS: TAKE A LOOK IN THE MIRROR
In response to State Sen. Joseph Kyrillos' criticism of Sen. Corzine's financial contribution to the Education Law Center, Democratic candidate for Assembly Mike Dasaro has issued the following statement:
"Joe Kyrillos should take a good long look in the mirror before he starts questioning any other official's finances."
Dasaro revealed in a July press conference that Kyrillos accepted over $50,000 from a Piscataway-based developer, Jack Morris, who was looking to get the nod for the multi-million dollar redevelopment of the Matawan-Aberdeen Train Station Project. Matawan and Aberdeen are part of the 13th Legislative District, which Kyrillos represents.
"It's pretty ironic for Mr. Kyrillos to be hurling criticism when he accepted tens of thousands of dollars from a developer looking to change the face of Matawan and Aberdeen in order to make a quick buck," Dasaro said. "Mr. Kyrillos showed a blatant disregard for his constituents by accepting Morris' money."
In July, Dasaro called on the state to investigate possible wrong-doing in regard to the train station project.
"It's important to get to the truth of this matter," Dasaro said. "We can't be Monday-morning quarterbacks and criticize potential corruption only after the cost of money and lost trust has hit the taxpayers."
Dasaro noted that Assemblyman Sam Thompson, Republican-13th Legislative District, and Monmouth County Freeholder Amy Handlin have failed to speak out on an issue that concerns their constituents.
"The evidence is clear. Pages upon pages of election reports as well as documents pertaining to the train station redevelopment show that something fishy went on here. I don't how Mr. Thompson and Ms. Handlin can continue to stick their heads in the sand and neglect thousands of Monmouth County residents who they claim to represent," Dasaro concluded.
