The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has listed New Jersey’s third and seventh congressional districts in its top pickup prospects for 2008.
The DCCC released its “Red to Blue” list today, which included both of the district’s Democratic congressional candidates: state Sen. John Adler and Assemblywoman Linda Stender.
The Red to Blue program will provide Stender and Adler with financial support, as well as help with strategy and communications, according to a DCCC press release. To qualify for the program, the candidates had to meet fundraising goals.
“These are our top priority districts,” said DCCC spokeswoman Carrie James.
Stender announced today that she’s raised $615,000 for her second run at the seventh congressional district seat, and has $501,000 cash on hand.
Adler previously announced that he raised $610,000 in 2007 and has $580,000 on hand.

Meanwhile
Republicans are too busy primary challenging one another to see just exactly what's going on here. They are going to be outspent big time and the DCCC will stop at nothing to get those seats. This specifically applies to the 7th where it looks like somewhere around 4 or 5 Republicans are going to be fighting for the chance to get outspent big time by Stender the Spender. At least the 3rd will really only have 2 Republicans fighting to see who wants to get outspent by Norcross.
Adler is a "Bill Clinton" Democrat
Adler follows the lead of Bill Clinton.
A "Bill Cinton Democrat" BCD is one who changes his tone to suit his ego and not the actual needs of the community. Yet they hide behind the very words they speak.
ie: It all depends on your defination of what a word "is"
Rather then being accountable He dodges issues and puts his own specific spin on the issues. This does not manifest responsbility to the ideals of public service.
No, you think review his record and compare it w/ his web site. He says he believes in seperation of church and state yet he sponsored "faith based intatatives" legislation.
He says he's against corruption. That he was chair of the ethics commitee and sponsored legislation on the same. Whose his next door State Senator and in the same party: Wayne Bryant and the folks who use Camden as their personal pig sty of greed.
Where's State Senate oversight. Worse he turns to the DCCC to help fight his local battle against the GOP. Fight your own battles and out of state inter-lopers go home and bu the way....
"Bill Clinton Democrats" need to go back to where they came.

Error?
You meant to say that the DCCC listed the third and SEVENTH congressional districts as big pick-ups, right? Not the fifth. I really don't think Shulman and Abate are that big a threat, to say the least.
NJ-02, etc.
I don't mean to post so much on Adler, but my interest is indicative of larger grassroots efforts in supporting him and the growing movement among South Jersey Dems to do everything humanly possible to ensure Adler's victory in November.
The only N.J. reporter who has made predictions in these two races is the incomparable Tom Moran, who is his end-of-the-year column predicted victory for both Adler and Stender.
Finally, though I want the DCCC and state Dems to go after every Republican holding office, it makes more sense from a strategic and fundraising vantage to go after NJ-3 and NJ-7 in 2008, then allocate resources for Whelan or Van Drew's run at LoBiondo's seat in 2010.
GOP in the 7th
They are too busy lining up conventions and not coming out on issues. The ideal use of primaries is name recognition. Nobody is breaking away from the pack with ideas.
