Defeated Iowa Congressman heads to N.J.
By Wally EdgeFormer House Banking Committee Chairman James Leach, who lost his bid for re-election in 2006 after spending thirty years representing Iowa in Congress, will spend the first eighteen months of his post-political career in New Jersey. Leach has accepted a position as a Visiting Professor of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. He will teach a graduate course, , "The Intersection of Chinese and U.S. Foreign Policy," drawing upon his experience as chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the House Committee on International Relations.
After graduatiing Princeton in 1964, he went to Washington as an aide to Donald Rumseld, who was then serving as a U.S. Congressman from Illinois. He later became Chairman of the Ripon Society, a national organization of moderate Republicans.
