District 2 Democrats launch two website attacks

Team Whelan launched two websites in as many days against two of their opponents, state Sen. Sonny McCullough and Assembly candidate Vince Polistina.

In a press release, district 2 Democrats' campaign spokesman Raiyan Syed said of Polistina, "Beware the '$6 Million-Dollar Man' masquerading as a taxpayers' advocate in the state Assembly contest. The candidate scrambling to hide his record is Republican Vince Polistina, who has spent the last several years truly advocating for one lone taxpayer: himself. Using the political system in ways he'd rather the voters not know about, Polistina has pocketed nearly $6 million from 13 government entities, even wrangling multiple no-bid, pay-to-play government contracts."

Syed said the new website, features a television ad supported by the relevant government documents.

When one of his opponents, Joe Wilkins, raised the contract question at a debate last week, Polistina said he went to school for four years and worked under an engineer for four years to obtain his engineering license.

"Of course, engineering is a public job," he said. "You design roads, you design bridges, you design parks and you design utility systems; and so of course engineers are going to do public work.

"I'm very proud of the work I've done," he added, and said the $6 million was over a six-year period.
The other website, targets Assemblyman Jim Whelan's opponent, Sen. Sonny McCullough, which calls into question the senator's holding multiple taxpayer-funded jobs, and claiming his opposition to dual office-holding but refusing to relinquish one of his public offices, among other things, Syed said.

McCullough last week said he anticipated a big hit coming.

"Codey is going to pour a million dollars down here," he said of Democratic Senate President Richard Codey's backing of Whelan. "Obviously they know they're running behind, and we're going to continue doing what we do by running a grassroots campaign."

The Camden and State

The Camden and State Democrats are dumping a hell of alot of money into district 1, 2 & 12 for these senate seats. The 10 million spent for these races might help close the NJ State Budget deficit.

Why has Whelan decided not to support Blondell Spellman in District 2?

Jimmy Whelan is a yes man who will be beholden to the Camden or even worse the North Jersey Democrats. The area residents are well aware of what is at stake in districts 1 & 2.

The GOP will win in District 1 & 2.

McCullough over Whelan by 52% - 48%.

Amodeo 54%
Polistina 52%
Wilken 48 %
Spellman 45%.

Where does all this money come from???

Can someone please tell me where all this money comes from that Dick Codey & the Camden Democrats have to buy representation in other ares of he state?

They are dumping over 2 million to get these seats....do you really think Van Drew & Whelan will be independent thinkers with all of this money being dumped into them?

The State of NJ is corrupt and someone should investigate the massive amounts of money being dumped to buy puppet Democratic politicans!!!

UImmmm, dude?

The 10 million spent for these races might help close the NJ State Budget deficit.

That's one of the dumbest lines out there, and for some reason it keeps getting repeated.

IT'S NOT TAX MONEY. These are private donations given by private individuals and PACs (which are funded by private individuals.)

If you want to know where the money comes from, go get the ELEC reports. It's all out there, and takes some elbow grease to figure out but you sound like the one to do it.

Stop whining and get cracking!

Democrats funded by alot of lawyers & insurance co.s.

I am looking at the money trail for these PAC's that are being pumped into these campaigns as suggested. It seems like alot of these funds are from lawyers, insurance co.'s and engineering firms.

We wonder why the state is going bankrupt?

Republican Cry Baby's

Stop complaining about money coming into the District. The only difference between the two Parties is the amount of money. The Republicans in LD1 and LD2 have taken money from Giuliani, they have taken money from the North Jersey Republican Bosses Lance and DeCroce. Asselta and MCCoullough act like all of their funding comes from the guy who owns the corner store. Maybe if those two were not so lazy they would go out and do more fundraising instead of crying in the press.

Van Drew and Whelan are energetic and have drawn a lot of support because they have a positive message for the South.

Sonny and Nick have been crying now for 2 months.  Both of them had years to raise enough funds. If they had positive messages people would listen, but voters are turning them off.

It is not the money fellas, its your record that will cause your defeat.

Hardly a good sign for Dems

Launching two last-minute attack websites in the closing days of the campaign looks like the Dems are more than a little scared in the Second.

Good point above: also looks like Whelan is trying to cut Spellman loose.
