Do as I say?

Tom Kean's U.S. Senate campaign took a shot at the Democratic incumbent for voting against the confirmation of Samuel Alito as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court: "Today, Bob Menendez sent his message loud and clear -- partisanship is more important than the people of New Jersey. Instead of fighting for Judge Alito, he chose to embrace the political bitterness that is dividing America." But on the same day, Kean voted against the confirmation of Zulima Farber as Attorney General of New Jersey.

Kean would have been wise to follow the direction of Bob Martin, but at the very least, should not have issued this TOTALLY incongruous statement.

Let's put aside the issue of any supposed incongruity.

Follow the direction of Bob Martin? That's great advice for Tom Kean -- if he wants to pursue the path to political oblivion and not to the US Senate.

Are you guys for real? Alito is an eminently qualified candidiate and the sole basis for the no vote was political partisanship. Farber on the other hand, had legitimate questions regarding her qualifications for the state's top law enforcement post based upon a repeated disregard for the judicial process. Translation for the cognitively impaired - a valid, non-political reason for a no vote. Where's the hypocrisy?

anybody who's gone to law school knows any lawyer is pretty much "qualified" to serve as AG. don't fall for the hype there millie. regardless, no one should be withheld from a position because of a few silly traffic tickets. interesting to see the senate R's use the cookie-cutter McGreevey press kit on Farber's nom.

Burlco....i went to law school. Suffice it to say i know lots (and lots) of people i wouldn't want to see as AG. Do traffic tix impact on her legal acumen? Of course not. God knows, i've had my own scrapes. But blowing off 14 tickets and several court dates is a problem of a different sort. It's not a skills issue it's a credibility issue. How can someone present themselves as the law of the land when they've repeatedly ignored the law when it became inconvenient.
