A VISIT TO THE LAND OF MAKE-BELIEVE FOR ASSEMBLYMAN CORODEMUS
In the rough and tumble world of politics sometimes the truth gets bent and stretched a bit to make a point. -In the rough and tumble world of politics sometimes the truth gets bent and stretched a bit to make a point. Here in the 11th District, the truth has been largely ignored, as Assemblymen Steve Corodemus and Sean Kean make increasingly frequent visits to the Land of Make-Believe to fuel their increasingly baseless accusations and accolades as they attempt to further distance themselves from their non-existent records.Their latest trip was documented in this Thursday's Coast Star when "Mr. Corodemus pointed out that this [his and Kean's] work helping the state's environment has earned the campaign endorsements from "the two biggest environmental groups in New Jersey" - the state chapter of the Sierra Club and the New Jersey Environmental Federation, and arm of Clean Water Action." "Assemblyman Corodemus has apparently decided to give himself the Sierra Club endorsement, despite the fact that they did not endorse his candidacy for reelection," said 11th District Democratic Assembly candidate Jim Reilly, who actually received the endorsement of the Sierra Club. "Assemblyman Corodemus has a 14 year record of incumbency with no credible solution to the property tax crisis, no plan on a real housing plan for the state and more corrupt and special interest campaign donations than you can shake a stick at, so obviously, he feels the need to make things up."
Maybe Assemblyman Corodemus needs to be reminded of the facts that contributed to him being ignored by the Sierra Club. He sponsored S-2345 (2000-2001 Legislative Session), which let polluters off the hook for millions of dollars in penalties for damages caused to our public water supplies; he abstained on a vote to approve S-889 (2002-2003 Legislative Session) which establishes protections for drinking water resources and flood-prone areas under the state's open space acquisition program; and he abstained from voting on A-2069 (2002-2003 Legislative Session) which revised the Clean Communities Program to make recycling grants available to counties and municipalities.
"This is just one more example of our Republican opponents completely ignoring the facts and making things up in a desperate attempt to win reelection," said 11th District Democratic Assembly candidate Matt Doherty. "You would think that with 14 years in the Legislature, Assemblyman Corodemus could find something in his record to run on. But time and time again he chooses to ignore his record in favor of making things up, about us and about his own accomplishments. On Election day, that should all come to an end."
