ASSEMBLY DEMOCRATS: SENATE GOP'S
OUT-OF-TOUCH ATTACKS DISCOURAGING
(TRENTON) - Senate Republicans today showcased their disdain for bipartisan progress by attacking a bipartisan plan to convert New Jersey's property tax rebate checks into a direct income tax credit - a plan that would save the state roughly $50 million.
Funny as it seems, to some out-of-touch Senate Republicans over $50 million in savings may be a paltry sum. To Assembly members, it represents adhering to a commitment to excise wasteful spending in state government.
This display of partisan politicking comes barely a week after numerous members of the Senate GOP were ruled out of order on the floor of the Senate for attempting similar embarrassing partisan attacks.
"The Assembly is committed to working together toward bipartisan solutions that will help property taxpayers," said Assembly Democratic spokesman Derek Roseman. "It is discouraging some Senate Republicans don't share the same desire."
