Estabrook set to trash group she once headed in presser with Lonegan

Republican U.S. Senate candidate Anne Evans Estabrook will join conservative activist Steve Lonegan at a statehouse news conference this afternoon to sharply criticize the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce for endorsing Governor Jon Corzine’s toll hike package.  Estabrook is a former Chamber chair.

Lonegan, the former Mayor of Bogota and a likely candidate for the 2009 Republican gubernatorial nomination, is not expected to endorse any candidate in the ’08 U.S. Senate primary.

Estabrook

Estabrook is wise to reach out to Mayor Lonegan and Mayor Lonegan is also wise for not playing favorites with any of the candidates this early into the race.

One thing I must say is that Murray Sabrin is becoming a more intriguing choice everyday.

This is Why Republicans continue to lose

in NJ in statewide elections.  Going after the NJ Chamber is a non-starter. So what they endorsed Corzine's plan?   What is going after a lot of corporate fatcats, who middle class folks don't trust anyway going to signal? The R's are so out of touch.  They need to stick to fighting the plan on the ground, not up in the luxury boxes.

We will take any help that

We will take any help that we can get.  Pennacchio is a better choice for U.S. Senate, but Estabrook is on the right side on this issue.  What are Andrews and Franks thinking that they endorse Corzine's scheme?  Are they pulling an Asselta?

The Chamber...

As much as I was shocked at the Chamber supporting Corzine's plan for the tolls, I think we would be better served not going after them with guns blazing.

Still, I think it is good for Estabrook to team up with Lonegan on an issue or two. Still. I have no idea who I will support for the US Senate Vs Senator Lautenberg...
