Karl Rove attended the Republican State Committee fundraiser in Edison last week. That was supposed to be a secret until Todd Riffle told a Star-Ledger reporter.
Rove joined President George W. Bush on the quick trip to New Jersey, and remained behind the curtain at the event. It was back stage that he met Riffle, the Republican State Committee Communications Director, and his four-year-old daughter, Molly Riffle. The GOP staffer seemed so excited that his daughter met Bush and Rove that he told the story to a reporter. "Essentially, we bumped into him and said, 'How are you doing, Mr. Rove,'" Riffle said. "He leaned over and was talking to my daughter. I think she told him about her shoes and that her favorite color was purple."
It was from the Riffle item in the Star-Ledger's Auditor column that New Jersey Democrats learned that Rove, Bush's top political advisor, was at the event. Now the Democrats plan to use that as they seek to tie Republican legislative candidates to Bush.
Ironically, while Riffle used the presidential visit as a sort of "take you daughter to work day," live television news trucks prepared to cover the event were asked to leave their designated area by police and secret service agents before the President’s arrival. Apparently the owner of the property did not grant permission and wanted the media out.
WNBC-TV reporter Brian Thompson wrote that he called Riffle and "he was almost apoplectic with the realization that our live trucks were being forced to leave the biggest event of the year for the party. Still, at that late hour, there was nothing he could do to save the situation, and we had to set up our shots a block or so away.
"Even the state police at the roadblock where we were moved to were chuckling over the GOP's embarrassing lack of preparation," Thompson reported.
Apparently, the GOP vice presidential nominee -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin -- has come as a huge surprise to Democrats.

THE ICEBOX
"Now the Democrats plan to use that as they seek to tie Republican legislative candidates to Bush." And the Republicans should tie every democrat legislative candidate or elected to Congressman William "ICEBOX" Jefferson who was just indicted on 16 alleged violations of federal law that could keep Jefferson in prison for up to 200 years. How's that "the most ethical congress in history" looking now Nancy Pelosi ??
Nice try Bob
The fact is that Mr. Rove was accessable to several people attending the fundraiser. The fact that democrats only learned about it by reading the Auditor is a clear indication that no Dems attended it. Nice try Bob. Is Kushner out of jail yet?
Why Keep Rove's Presence a Secret?
It is several days since the cash-and-dash fundraiser in Edison with Captain 25%, yet not a single state Republican Assembly or Senate holder or candidate, besides Lance and DeCroce, will admit to attending the event. First, the t.v. trucks were kicked out; then, we learn that only 400k was cleared, much less cash than in previous Bush-Cheney visits to their loyal followers in N.J.; and now we know that Karl Rove, who has been under investigation for the Plame outing case, was one of the secret star attractions at the fundraiser. Perhaps Rove did some of his famous “rapping” for the adoring audience, or he chatted about what jail cell he may share with Scooter Libby, Tom DeLay, and Duke Cunningham.
Regarding the charge of corruption, well, it doesn’t surprise me that a paid GOP poster like GOPUSA-NJ would bring up Jefferson, whose corruption is verifiable but nothing compared to current Republican House officials, from Rep. John Doolittle to Rep. Ken Calvert to Rep. Tim Murphy. And this is the post-DeLay/Ambramoff era in Republican politics…. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070530/ap_on_go_co/gop_ethics
This is another example of
This is another example of why Tom Wilson should not be re-elected. Todd Riffle should have spent more time making sure the TV reporters were happy and less time making sure his 4 yr-old daughter got to meet the President. It's not about Rove, it's about another example of Tom Wilson's State Committee worrying more about what they can get out of the party than wins against the Democrats.
Hey NJGOP
If you can find any legislative candidate in NJ who has taken money from Jefferson, then you can make that complaint. Keep me posted.
Keep trying Martin
Too bad that GOPUSA-NJ is not paid by - and has no association to - the GOP; and they are critical of Democrats as much as Republicans (particularly when they act as Democrats - which in New Jersey is all too often). Anyway, if you took your head out of the ultra leftist web site from which you get your talking points you might become familiar with facts (by the way, Rove is not under investigation and there have been no charges filed against anyone for "outing" Valeria Plame - remember, Libby was convicted of perjury .... neither he nor anyone else was indicted or convicted of the "outing") ........ Oh, I forgot, that is something the Leftists will not let get in their way.
Keep trying to pin Republicans to Bush; just another indication that Democrats have no plans and/or ideas of their own on which to run. What about property taxes? What about an education funding plan? What about eminent domain abuse? What about reducing the size of government? What about the oppressive tax burden in New Jersey? ..... All I hear is silence from Democrats; no ideas and no plans.

This why you Democrats can't be taken seriously.. "Paid Poster" ?? I'd like to see the proof of that .. Better yet, who the hell has my money then ???
Martin
You just post to try to be relevant? What the heck are you posting about. I am just trying to figure out if you are ignorant or stupid?
Riffle, When will he ever get it?
It's no surpise that the Rove story leaked by the inept "Communication/Exec Director" Riffle. Yet again Riffle betrays his own party. Is it any wonder why the State GOP can't even win a statewide election with clowns like this running the show.

Bush and His Adoring Fans
Flaming, name-calling, and trolling on this site—these are the thoughtful contributions given by certain uber-conservative posters on this thread. Anything to distract from the special guest of honor, Karl Rove, is fair game for them, as is anything to distract from the abysmal performance of their Party’s leader, Bush, and his recent trip to the state.
The picture of a hiding, conniving Rove standing behind the curtain in Edison pulling the strings of his puppet, Pres. Bush, is a fitting one; at alternating times, Cheney, Rove, big oil, special interests groups, defense contractors, and other organizations have continued to do that over the past 6 years.

Marty: "I am just trying to figure out if you are ignorant or stupid?"
That's what you wrote on June 4th. This is what you wrote today: "Flaming, name-calling, and trolling on this site—these are the thoughtful contributions given by certain uber-conservative posters on this thread."
I know that you liberals like to rewrite history and blame others for your actions, but please, be a little more creative when there is a paper trail here.
Hey GOPUSA-NJ -- stop drinking the KoolAid
Yes, Jefferson is a crook and I hope he spends a lot of time in prison. But wait... any more? Now, have you forgot to mention HOW MANY Repugnican lawmakers are behind bars? Wow, more than just one.
And BTW, Rove and Co. aren't being investigated because "Scooter" fell on his sword for all of them by obstructing justice and lying to investigators... time hasn't run out yet to put that slimy bastard Rove where he belongs, dropping the soap for someone in prison.
And BTW, so much for the "paper trail" from GOP mail servers... I could spend all day explaining why you and your GOP buddies will burn in Hell for what you have done to destroy this country, not to mention sending 3500+ of our fine soldiers to their death for ... for... wait, yes, I forgot, Saddam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden are fraternity brothers! Yeah, that's the ticket!!!!!
Oh, and one more thing, just so I don't disappoint you from a progressive/liberal/Democrat point of view, you ARE a retard too. In addition to being ignorant and stupid. Have a nice day!!!
SissyBob
Oh that was just hilarious.
Just one, huh ? How about the murderer Ted Kennedy.. How about the crook John Murtha, or Diane Feinstein who has steered military contracts to her husband.
WE are destroying this Country ? That's a laugh.. Protecting the unborn while your party kills them. Protecting tradtional marriage while your party makes a mockery of it. Killing the terrorists while your party and your friends in the ACLU defend them and get them released. Protecting our innocent children from molesters and rapists while your party writes letters of leniency on their behalf or hires them on their campaign staff ..
WHO is destroying this Country ? You may want to ask that question again, the answer is obvious.
Ted Kennedy is not a murderer
If you knew the real story of the whole car bridge incident you would know that he isn't a murderer, he just let Mary Jo drive the car drunk after he jumped out to avoid the police. Do the research and talk to people who know the real story, not just the rumors and innuendo. And if you really want to protect marriage, protect it from people like Britney Spears (who is a Republican) and her ilk who make a mockery of it...and outlaw divorce!!! Oh wait that would be too incovenient for Rush and Newt who seem to love that institution...
