Ramsey, NJ - Independent Congressional Candidate R. Matthew Fretz released the following statement regarding Representative Scott Garrett's support for President Bush's veto of House Resolution 810.
"Scott Garrett's support of President Bush's veto of stem cell research funding destroyed hope for millions. It also eliminated a greater purpose for the vast majority of surplus embryos that will be destroyed as biomedical waste. I support federal funding for the use of surplus fertility clinic embryos for scientific research."

Unlike adult stem-cell reasearch which has proven effective in repairing and regenerating damaged muscle tissue and combating disease, embryonic stem-cell research has proven to be nothing more than junk science.
Embryonic stem-cell reasearchers are usually merely biologists who want to get paid to push perti dishes around the lab, cut up a human embryo, and sell it for parts like a stolen Toyota at a chop shop.
What great advances are we to expect from experimentation on human embryos-as opposed to adult stem-cells which have already produced cures?
Back in 2001 Parkinsons Disease sufferers volunteered to have fetal brain tissue injected into them. Not only did it have NO positive effects whatsoever, but about 15 percent of the patients had nightmarish side effects. The unfortunate patients "writhe and twist, jerk their heads. fling their arms about." And the worst thing was, the scientists couldn't turn it off.
Adult stem-cells have helped treat numerous illnesses successfully yet all that gets focused on is embryonic stem cell research which hasn't and will NEVER cure a single disease. It is as if electricity had already been discovered for thirty years and some schmuck is still trying to get someone to fund their research on candles.
Let's focus on what is really going to help save lives and throw the junk science out the window.

Dino,
I appreciate your taking the time to write. If you have a link to that tissue study you cited I'd appreciate taking a look at it. Here are two recent achievements using embryonic stem cells.

Problems With Embryonic Stem Cells
Dr. Peter Andrews of the University of Sheffield, England said, “Simply keeping human embryonic stem cells alive can be a challenge.1 Says Doug Melton, Harvard University researcher, “In my view (human embryonic stem cells) would degrade with time. 2
Human embryonic stem cells have never been used successfully in clinical trials, have a lacklustre success in combating animal models of disease, and carry significant risks, including immune rejection and tumour formation.3
“Transplantation of human embryo stem cells into human recipients may result in… tumours. 4
Speaking about embryonic stem cells, Glenn McGee, a University of Pennsylvania bioethicist told M.I.T.s Technology Review, “The potential that they would explode into a cancerous mass after stem cell transplant might turn out to be a Pandora's Box of stem cell research. In one instance, fetal tissue derived from early fetuses was inserted into an individual's brain resulting in no visible neurons, but instead producing numerous non-brain tissues in the patient's brain.5
In the most extensive controlled study of fetal brain tissue transplantation for Parkinson's disease, the transplant showed little or no benefit for most patients. Fetal brain tissue was transplanted into the brains of patients to regenerate or replace the cells missing or damaged by Parkinson's disease, the theory being, that these young cells would take over production of the missing brain chemical dopamine. However, the results were horrific. In 15% of the patients, the transplanted fetal cells went out of control and produced irreversible and devastating changes in the patients' brains, resulting in muscle spasm, sucking movements and writhing, which could not be controlled by any medicine.6
Even if a specific tissue is successfully produced from embryonic stem cells and nuclear transfer cloning, therapeutic use of this tissue may cause abnormalities in the person receiving the tissue graft.7

Meanwhile, here's a short list of the successful treatments achieved by adult stem cells:
-Rebuilding livers wracked by otherwise irreversible cirrhosis
-Repairing spinal cord injuries by using stem cells from nasal and sinus regions
-Completely reversing Type 1 diabetes in mice using adult spleen cells.
-Putting Crohn's disease into remission with the patient's own blood stem cells.
-Putting lupus into remission using stem cells from the patients blood stream
-Treating sickle-cell anemia using using stem cells from umbilical cord blood
- restoring bone marrow in cancer patients using stem cells from umbilical cord blood.
And the list goes on and on.
More proof that adult stem cell research is the wave of the future and embryonic stem cell research is nothing more than junk science that just pours more money into the bank accounts of pro-abortion organizations.

This was my method to find out how many people out there actually read Ann's(She spells it Ann, not Anne) book from beginning to end.
Unfortunately, too many people want to focus on what she said about the Jersey Girls(which by the way was the truth) and not about everything else like the truth about global warming, abortion, teacher's unions and evolution.
More often than not, liberals tend to harp on something that they can exploit as "offensive" to take the focus off of their religion of Liberalism being a complete and utter fraud.
Kudos to you Ann!
