Ramsey - Independent Candidate for the Fifth District, R. Matthew Fretz, released the following statement regarding Representative Scott Garrett's latest campaign mailer heralding Garrett as 'An Independent Voice', which happens to be Mr. Fretz's party line on the ballot November 7th."Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, so today I am extremely flattered. I was encouraged to see Mr. Garrett use my party name from the ballot for his latest mailer. I was more impressed he would parrot my talking points as his own. This is nothing less than an endorsement of why I'm running. His campaign paid to get my message into more homes than I could reach on my own. Thanks, Scott.
Not once does he mention he's a Republican. He's hardly independent, voting the hard right GOP line 98% of the time. He fails to mention the only times he wasn't standing behind the partisan noise makers were to defend Tom DeLay, and tout the twelve mustard gas canisters found in Iraq as moral justification for going to war. When he talks about New Jersey being used as an ATM, he fails to mention our return on the tax dollar has gone down since he took office. And of course, there's still the fact he's promoting job growth without knowing our unemployment rate has risen the last three months.
Mr. Garrett is part of problem in Washington, and he knows it. I am the alternative to party politics as usual, and Scott's mailer mimicking me points to the strength of my message. People who yearn for 'An Independent Voice' in our House of Representatives will see one on the ballot and vote for FRETZ."
