(TRENTON) - Governor Jon S. Corzine today signed into law legislation Assemblymen Thomas P. Giblin and John S. Wisniewski sponsored to designate Route 23 as the "Robert A. Roe Highway."
"Congressman Robert A. Roe was a man ahead of his time," said Giblin (D-Essex). "His efforts brought billions of federal transportation dollars to New Jersey and made much of our highway system what it is today."
The Giblin/Wisniewski measure (A-3531/S-2625) designates the entire length of New Jersey Route 23 as the "Robert A. Roe Highway" and appropriates $2,500 for appropriate signage.
"Congressman Roe was a true public servant and a transportation expert," said Wisniewski (D-Middlesex). "It is altogether fitting that we remember his tireless advocacy for our state's transportation network by naming a portion of it after him."
