Giuliani in New Jersey

Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani will be in New Jersey tonight, headlining a fundraiser for the cash-strapped Bergen County Republican Organization.

God bless Giuliani...helping those who cannot help themselves.

He'll need Bergen to carry NJ in the general for sure (if he wins the nomination)

You're Right

I totally agree with you and I think he can and will win Bergen after he's nominated.

Not so sure

This is one Bergen resident that recalls all the pot shots Rudy use to take at New Jersey when he was mayor. Fred Thompson looks better and better.

It should be interesting...

Many Bergen County residents often commute to the city and it would be hard to notice that, and the general opinion is that he cleaned up NYC. But don't forget, before 9/11 his poll numbers were in the toilet and he has an awful lot of baggage. Feeling is that he probably will not win the nomination, conservative Republicans will have a hard time supporting a moderate, who supports some liberal initiatives. Best bet, it will not be him, but I think you are right, he would probably do well in Bergen County, maybe not win in a landslide, but could keep it close.

Are You Kidding?

Who doesn't take pot shots at New Jersey? People who live in New Jersey take pot shots at New Jersey! Myself included!

If anything, Rudy will easily win New Jersey in a general election as well as Connecticut and Pennsylvania and lose New York. New York state Republicans strongly dislike Rudy because he disliked George Pataki and even went so far as supporting Mario Cuomo's failed re-election bid against him. Not to mention that Mike Bloomberg will probably throw his support behind Hillary.

As far as Fred Thompson goes, I think people see he's a conservative actor/politician and see visions of Ronald Reagan. While Thompson may have a certain southern charm about him, he is nowhere near as charismatic or iron willed as Reagan was. Furthermore, he left the US Senate because he didn't want to make a career out of it. Needless to say, I don't think we want to nominate a candidate whose heart isn't in it.

I think that Rudy is by far the best looking candidate and will remain so whether Fred Thompson enters the race or not.

Giuliani: Raised Taxes for NJ Workers

Wasn't Rudy the NYC Mayor who instituted a very large commuter tax on New Jersey residents who work in NYC? Many, many Bergen County voters were hit HARD in their wallets/pocket books by his big tax bite. Don't count on him getting alot of votes in Bergen.
