GOP picks candidates in 38th

Bergen County Republicans have picked their candidates for the 38th district: former Elmwood Park Councilman Robert Colletti will challenge Democratic State Senator Joseph Coniglio, and South Hackensack GOP Municipal Chairwoman Renee Czarnecki, the wife of the former Mayor, and Paramus Republican activist John Driscoll will run for the State Assembly against incumbents Robert Gordon and Joan Voss.

Coniglio unseated Republican State Senator Louis Kosco in 2001 and was re-elected two years later against GOP Assemblywoman Rose Heck.  He would be a safe bet for a third term if not for the cloud of the federal subpoena he was served last month in connection to a federal probe of legislators receiving an alleged personal benefit from state budget items.  Coniglio received $5,500-a-month as a plumbing consultant for Hackensack University Medical Center, who later received over $1 million in state grants

What happened to the sign stealer?

What ever happened to the Menendez sign stealer from Elmwood Park - Joe Assisi? He had a long rambling letter circulating as to why he should be nominated to the Bergen County GOP 38th Legislative ticket. He seems such a logical pick for that party..LOL

I fully support the GOP ticket for district 38

I did what was best for myself and the GOP's in D38 and decided not to run for assembly this year. I will fully support the GOP freeholders, the Elmwood Park GOP mayor and counsel and the team of Colletti, Driscoll and Czarnecki. I believe Republicans should deal with truth and facts and the facts are the signs I took down were illegal since they were on telephone poles, also the signs did not mention "Bob Menendez" or "Democrat". Anyone who saw the clip of that would know the truth. After all I wouldn't want to take legal action against anyone for libel or slander. It's time to move forward and work to elect quality candidates all over NJ.
