State Sen. Shirley Turner's support of senatorial courtesy is wrong and it reflects "what's wrong with our politicians in Trenton," says he 15th district GOP opponent, Bob Martin. “It concerns me that Senator Turner views Senatorial Courtesy as acceptable because every other senator is doing it,” said Martin, who has pledged to end the practice. “I’m also concerned that Senator Turner does not see this process as an obstacle to an effective, transparent and honest government.”
“I view banning Senatorial Courtesy as part of a comprehensive package of anti-corruption laws which must be passed by the state legislature," Martin said in a statement. "I have published a comprehensive plan for anti-corruption that will significantly strengthen the watered-down anti-corruption laws passed by legislators.”

Turner's wrong on a lot more than courtesy
Hello....grants to Rider?
Shirley Turner = Low-fat Bryant, Coniglio, James
Oh c'mon now Clarkvip1. All Shirley did was use her access to a legislative slush fund and put her private employer university (Rider) ahead of the three public colleges (which she got nothing or next to nothing from the same filthy fund.) What's wrong with that? So what? Who cares if she thinks her private employer deserves money from that slush fund but the public universities in her district don't? It was only $1.2 million or so. Noone ever claims there was a quid pro quo like when Bryant dipped into the same fund for UMDNJ. It was just dirty and gross how she thought there was nothing wrong with dipping into a secretive slush fund for her private employer. But geez... it's not like she got a low-show job out of it. Too bad for the public students at Trenton State, Mercer Community College, and Thomas Edison. Maybe if they were as worthy as the kids at Rider, they would have gotten something. Maybe Turner was right to hog the money for Rider. Maybe it's a better school with more dereving kids. By the way, Codey still lets Bryant "serve" on the committee that oversees higher education (including UMDNJ). How pathetic is that?
Clarkvip & ImWithStupid: Get Real About Shirley!!!!!!
Check your facts! Shirley has supported education for all students and not just those that attend Rider. Did either one of you know that as a Freeholder, Shirley was responsible for establishing and supporting a Mercer County Community College in Trenton? As a Assemblywoman and Senator, Shirley has voted for legislation designed to help single parents attend college. Moreover, I challenge you to identify a vote where Shirley opposed additional funding for higher education. Do you have one? I didn't think so. If you had checked the facts, which you obviously haven't, you would know that Shirley put herself through college as a watress, she has been a public school teacher, a college lecturer, a certified college guidance counseler and a member of the Senate Education Committee. Can you name a greater advocate for education at all levels? I didn't think so. Get the facts straight!!!!!!
