GUARINO FOR SENATE
Opposing EnCap, Fighting for Government Accountability
DISTRICT 36 –Bergen, Essex, Passaic
GOP SENATE CANDIDATE SAYS LYNDHURST MAYOR SHOULD BE BANNED FROM CONVENTION
DiLascio Alleged to be doing Ferriero/Sarlo’s Work
Lyndhurst - With Lyndhurst Mayor Richard DiLascio about to bolt the Republican Party and join the Democrats, he and his county committee people, who are also switching parties, should be banned from voting in Monday’s Bergen county Republican Party chairman election, says GOP District 36 candidate Michael Guarino.
Guarino says that DiLascio’s support for the notorious EnCap development project in the meadowlands and his corresponding support for Sen. Paul Sarlo – the chief legislative backer of the EnCap boondoggle – “have put him in bed with the Democrats.”
Guarino said part of the rumored deal in the works is that DiLascio will remain a Republican only until after Monday’s vote. He has allegedly been told to throw his town’s support to Ben Focarino at the insistence of Bergen County Democrat Party Chairman, Joseph Ferriero. Boss Ferriero is allegedly also steering other District 36 Republican votes toward Foccarino as well.
Guarino said that he is asking Focarino to tell DiLascio to stay home. “I know Ben a long time and I think he is an above board guy. If he wants to be chairman he should immediately quash these rumors and disavow any participation in scheme to have Ferriero influence the outcome of the Republican Chairman election,” said Guarino.
“We know Rich DiLascio has caved in to the Democrat Party pressure on EnCap,” said Guarino, a long time political watchdog and opponent of the EnCap development. He has been offered a county job and I am sure he will be offered more in the future as a reward for his complicity.”
“The fact is that DiLascio is for, all intents and purposes, a Democrat. He shouldn’t be allowed to do Joe Ferriero’s dirty work and influence the outcome of the chairman’s vote,” said Guarino, a former Democrat.
“I switched parties to fight the waste and abuse of taxpayer money in the EnCap scam and to protect the meadowlands communities from yet another insider development deal, said Guarino.“No one bribed me to take on Paul Sarlo. I did what was right. Mr. DiLascio is doing only what’s best for him.”
For his acquiescence on the EnCap project, DiLascio was supposed to get a $20,000 Bergen County job. After his employment was approved by the Freeholder board, his job offer was withdrawn by the freeholders last week.
“The Democrats withdrew the job because of the embarrassment caused by having DiLascio switch parties and then get rewarded with a county job,” said Guarino. “But you can bet there are bigger rewards waiting for him thanks to Joe Ferriero and Paul Sarlo.”
