GOVERNOR CORZINE TAPS KEN ZIMMERMAN TO SERVE
AS CHIEF COUNSEL
TRENTON
– Governor Jon S. Corzine today announced that Kenneth Zimmerman, a former senior federal official and the current Executive Director of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice will serve as Chief Counsel to the Governor.Zimmerman currently serves as executive director of the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, an urban advocacy and research institution. He served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under President Clinton, where he was the third-ranking official in the Department’s civil rights office. Prior to that, Zimmerman served for seven years as a Senior Trial Attorney and a Trial Attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be called upon to serve the people of New Jersey,� Zimmerman said. “I look forward to continuing the office’s commitment to high ethical standards while providing first-rate legal advice to the Governor.�
Zimmerman graduated magna cum laude from Yale University and magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. He lives in Montclair with his wife and three children.
The appointment is dependent on Stuart Rabner’s confirmation as Attorney General.
