kellyhatfield@hatfield2008.com February 8, 2008 Hatfield Calls on Stender to Speak-out For Her Constituents Summit - Dr. P. Kelly Hatfield, Republican candidate for congress representing New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, today questioned why Assemblywoman Linda Stender, has been mum on the Governor’s plan to raise tolls on NJ roadways. “Stender appears to have gotten a pass from the higher ups of the Democratic Party to remain quiet on this issue that is of tremendous importance to the residents in her district,” Hatfield said. It appears as though the obvious Democratic candidate for the 7th District seat doesn’t want to step on the Governor’s toes for fear he will not support her in the race this fall. “I can understand that with the details of the plan not fully disclosed until recently, that she would not wish to comment on specifics. However, she should at least let Corzine know that raising tolls on the Garden State Parkway and the NJ Turnpike is just plain unacceptable.” Hatfield feels that by remaining quiet Stender is showing a greater concern for her campaign fund than the wallets of the people that she currently represents in the 22nd Assembly District and those she wants to represent in Washington. “Other high ranking Democrats have either spoken out for or against the plan or have admitted to reviewing it but Stender has yet to even acknowledge the plan's existence," Hatfield added.
