Governor Jon "Hold Me Accountable/Zero Tolerance" Corzine has named lobbyist Hazel Gluck to the New Jersey Public Officers Salary Review Commission. Some pundits say the nomination has the potential for numerous conflicts: the Public Officers Salary Review Commission reviews the salaries of the Governor and cabinet officers, which means, arguably, that she can help set the salaries of the people she lobbies.
Here are some potential examples:

Why the usual suspects?
The continuing attempts to appoint Ms. Gluck to any positions begs the question,
In a state of over 7 million people, are there no other people willing and able to serve the state?
Susan Bass Levin, Hazel Gluck, Joe Doria...why do we keep seeing the same names over and over???
ABC Bail Bonds
is clearly the biggest conflict. LMAO Wally! To be fair, Corzine shouldn't be on this list. No matter what the Commission sets as his salary, he will accept no more than $1 a year. While Hazel Gluck is certainly yesterday's news as a lobbyist, her occupation alone should NOT disqualify her from serving on a public commission. Many lobbyists are considerably knowledgable about public policy, talented, and selective about their clientele. If they have something to offer the State by volunteering their time on boards, commissions, etc., then it is appropriate for lobbyists to be considered for gubernatorial appointments. Actual conflicts should of course be scrutinized thoroughly by the Governor's Office prior to making direct appointments.
She isn't a good lobbyist
Mongoose has a point. Even though she isn't a good lobbyist, and definitely not knowledgeable, being one should not automatically disqualify one from public service. Although the only public "service" Gluck really knows is how to relieve the public of its tax dollars. Nonetheless, this particular Commission is a problem because she does have a say over how much the people she is lobbying get paid. Can anyone say Quid Pro Quo? It's hard to say no to the person recommending your pay. That's why so many people are against it. Smells bad. And where there's a bad smell, there's usually a rotten fish.
This smells bad!

what's Corzine's infatuation w/ her? I like the idea of appointing Republicans once in a while....but is there no one else?
