CONTINUE PROGRESS IN EAST RUTHERFORD
BERGEN COUNTY GOP GIVES ENDORSEMENT TO HOMAYCHAK AND BANCA IN GOP RACE
East Rutherford -- Mike Homaychak, a lifelong Republican was given the Bergen County Republican Line in the upcoming June 3rd Primary, over former Democrat Councilman Sam Stallone, who switched parties in March to run as a Republican
Homaychak, who served for more than six years on the East Rutherford school board, said he was thrilled that he has the backing of the Republican organization in Bergen County and to share the line with his friend Tom Banca.
“I have been a loyal Republican and big supporter of Mayor Jim Cassella and his programs and I am very gratified to be given the opportunity to run for council on the county GOP line,” said Homaychak
County GOP Chairman Rob Ortiz said he was glad to award the line to a lifelong Republican, like Homaychak. “I always welcome converts to the Republican Party, but in this case, I have deep concerns about the sincerity of the council members who switched parties. I want people who believe in Republican values, not opportunists,” said Ortiz.
Homaychak said he supports Mayor James Cassella’s fiscal plan that has made East Rutherford one of the lowest taxed towns in all of Bergen County. He also said he supports Cassella’s smart growth strategy that has brought in $48 million in new taxable properties paying more than $1.23 million in taxes, while stopping over 700 town houses from being built.
“I think the mayor has done an outstanding job, yet all he has gotten from Democrats is opposition and attacks,” said Homaychak
He said he rival for the GOP nomination, Councilman Stallone “was a Democrat in February and voted for either Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama. He supported Jon Corzine and the excessive spending by Trenton’s Democrats. Now he wants Republican voters to believe he is a Republican.
“The truth is that the only reason he switched parties is because he knows he would not win re-election as a Democrat. He knows after last year’s embarrassing campaign against the mayor, the Democrats have little credibility in East Rutherford.
Homaychak says that progress in the community depends on continued quality leadership. “Jim Cassella has a tremendous amount of experience in government and we need a team that supports his initiatives. Sadly, there are some misguided Republicans who oppose him and are doing it in a way that is divisive to the Republican Party. I don’t think that’s the wise course of action,” says Homaychak
Homaychak, works as a Computer Tech Manager at Flexi-Van in Kenilworth, NJ. His responsibilities include maintaining: nationwide network, all PCs and Servers, network security and field inventory.
