Derrig of Mahwah Welcomed To GOP Headquarters

Hackensack – Bergen County Republican Organization chairman Robert Yudin announced today the appointment of a new executive director for the organization.

Stephanie Derrig of Mahwah begins her official duties today as ED. She will replace Matt Mowers, the current ED.

“I appreciate the work that Matt did for the organization. He is a bright and talented young man and he has a bright future in Republican politics,” said Yudin.

Yudin said the BCRO was fortunate to have someone of Derrig’s caliber as ED. “Stephanie is an extremely accomplished business executive with many skills that will be of great value to the BCRO.  We are very fortunate that she has agreed to accept the position.”

Derrig, 40, has a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Risk Management from LaSalle University. She worked as a sales executive at Kemper National Insurance Companies and is currently with Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate. She is a licensed New Jersey Realtor and was top sales person in 2001, 2003 and 2004.
Derrig was a former member of the Bergen County Republican committee first in Edgewater and now in Mahwah. She is a member of the Bergen County Women’s Republican Club and has participated in county Republican Get Out The Vote efforts since 2004. She is married to Jim Derrig,

Stephanie was born into a military family and is committed to community service. Her father served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Colonel, after serving numerous combat tours in Viet Nam.

Derrig says she is eager to take on the challenges of managing the day to day operations of the BCRO. “I am very glad to get this opportunity to work for the party that I believe best embodies the ideals and values of the American people,” said Derrig.

“Bergen County will play a key role in deciding the fortunes John McCain and Dick Zimmer in New Jersey and I want to demonstrate to the state that the Bergen Republican Party is energized and ready to work for candidates from the top of the ballot down to the municipal level.”

Derrig said the party has a great opportunity to score victories on the county and local level and she is looking forward to working on behalf of the re-election of County Clerk Kathe Donovan and the election of the Bergen GOP freeholder candidates Chris Calabrese, Jeff Heller and Paul Duggan.
