Dan Cassino, a political science professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University, told the Philadelphia Inquirer that New Jersey was not necessarily a blue state. "New Jersey is not that liberal of a state among whites. Whites are 50-50 Republican and Democratic," Cassino said. "It is considered a blue state because of its large minority population."
BlueJersey.com's Juan Melli on Cassino's comments: "For some reason, it made sense to exclude minorities from the analysis of the real New Jersey? Give me a break."
Thankfully, New Jersey has more astute political scientists than Cassino. On NJN's Election Night coverage last November, Montclair State University political science professor Brigid Harrison told viewers that if Bob Menendez received more votes than Tom Kean, Jr., then he would probably win the U.S. Senate race.
Editor's note: The headline -- If it weren't for all those Democrats, New Jersey wouldn't be so Democratic -- came from Melli. We couldn't have said it better.

Actually, the reverse is true
If it weren't for all the Democrats, the state might be democratic. Unfortunately people call the Democrat party the Democratic party; when, in reality, they are the least democratic. The power consolidating, self interested, disregarding the vote of the people, giving all credence to appointed judiciary Democrats take more Liberty from the people than should be permitted.
If they were democratic they would support I&R, they would allow the question of gay marriage be put to a vote of the people, they would stop the judiciary from making policy, and they would support redistricting, and they would support a constitutional convention.
But, no, they are fat and happy and will do all they can to remain that way. So, it is about time that people stop calling the Democrat party the Democratic party and refer to it by its rightful name the the Democrat party ..... or - to be completely honest - Socialists.
