Rush Holt endorsed Governor Jon Corzine’s toll hike plan yesterday, but has still been unable to decide who he wants as the next President of the United States. Holt is the only New Jersey House Democrat not to endorse a candidate in today’s presidential primary.

Corzine's plan, endorsements
First, I agree with Holt's support for Corzine's plan to decrease state debt by at least half, even though the toll hikes are a bitter pill to swallow.
Regarding Holt's lack of presidential endorsement, perhaps it is a good thing that he hasn't endorsed on some level. He can move in and out of the Obama and Clinton circles without seeming partisan towards either (and have the ability to provide some "good for the party" support to either presidential candidate); this is what he did when he attended an Elizabeth Edwards fundraiser a few months ago in Monmouth Co. Holt is arguably the most respected member of N.J.'s house delegation, so he can afford not to make an endorsement and still emerge with clean hands.
