It's shocking to learn that these kind of things might actually happen

The criminal trial of former Carneys Point Mayor John Lake began this week in Salem County.  Lake is accused of offering his Democratic opponent a $20,000-a-year municipal job if exchange for his withdrawal from the race.  It's a good thing Governor Jon "Zero Tolerance" Corzine's administration is going after major political corruption case like that -- and perhaps even better that this new practice of offering people government jobs in exchange for something political gets nipped in the bud immediately.
