Desperate Kelly Hits New Low With Latest Mailer
Reprints Letter to the Editor from Ex-Boss at SJTA,
Tries to Pass it off as Editorial Opinion of the Asbury Park Press
Mount Holly, May 15, 2008-Republican Congressional candidate Chris Myers said that his opponent Jack Kelly's desperation forced him to hit a new low yesterday. Myers said a Kelly mailer that arrived at homes throughout the district contained a reprint of a letter to the editor penned by Kelly ex-boss at the SJTA, and that Kelly tried to pass off the letter as the official Editorial Opinion of the Asbury Park Press, re-printing the letter under the headline "The Asbury Park Press Sets the Record Straight."
Nowhere did Kelly disclaim that James A. Crawford was his ex-boss at the SJTA; and nowhere did Kelly disclaim that Crawford's letter was NOT the opinion of the Asbury Park Press Editorial Board. Kelly's clearly intended to mislead voters.
Kelly's mailer also included other lies and distortions of Myers' record on property taxes and his role at Lockheed Martin.
"Jack Kelly is losing and he's desperate," said Myers, who said he hears from taxpayers angry about Kelly's SJTA jobs everywhere he goes. "His attempt to intentionally mislead voters about the source of his ex-boss' letter is just another shameful attempt by Kelly to cover up his patronage job scandal at the SJTA-an insiders scam that cost taxpayers nearly $400,000 and counting for a job Kelly wasn't even qualified to hold and where no real evidence exists that he ever did any work."
