Ocean County Freeholder Jack Kelly will officially announce his candidacy tomorrow, but that’s not all – he’ll also tout the support of U.S. Rep. Chris Smith.
Last week, Kelly’s likely primary opponent in Burlington County, Medford Mayor Chris Myers, announced his candidacy alongside Rep. Jim Saxton.
It is unclear whether Smith will be present for the announcement, which will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 at the law office of Ocean County Republican Chairman George Gilmore in Toms River.

Wow..
I'm not sure it will carry as much weight as Saxton's endorsement of Myers but that is a pretty impressive and interesting endorsement. I never figured Chris Smith would be the type to get involved in a primary battle.
Coercion
Mr. Edge gives what is most likely the best explanation for Smith's decision. By the way, doesn't Kelly already have the endorsement of Ocean County? Am I to believe they endorsed someone who wasn't even running yet? How many times is this guy going to officially announce his candidacy?
PolitickerNJ, please do not accept any new headshots of Jack since none will be as funny as your file photo.
Myers has Edge
I am sure Mr. Kelly is qualified and a good man, but I think Saxton's endoresment carries more weight and because Myers has strong ties to Lockheed and in Medford, he should win easily.
I would have hoped not to have a primary, but Kelly IMHO does not seem to have the same experience in defense as Myes does.
But I am pretty confident Myers will win and it is my hope that Kelly stands with him.
