Joseph Kuehner, the mayor of Egg Harbor City and a Democratic candidate for the Assembly in district 2, is expected to announce tomorrow that he will drop out of the race, according to sources.
There has been speculation for several weeks that Kuehner, whose father is ill, would step aside. Kuehner has been running on a ticket with state Senate candidate James Whelan and Assembly candidate Blondell Spellman, both of Atlantic City.

New Candidate
The Democratic Ticket lost a good man but will not be weakened by his replacement. The new candidate will be well known and highly respected member of the community who will have a huge Labor backing. The Democratic ticket will be very difficult to beat .
No loss
Kuehner is a good person but has not delivered in EHC. At least District 2 won't have to tolerate that. The Republicans have a strong ticket. John Amodeo is an extraordinary candidate and has an excellent political reputation from his time served on the Linwood City Council. Vince is refreshing and is able to wrap his head around issues.
Alisa Cooper
...will be seeking the nomination, she seems ambitious. However, there are several former Republicans that would love to run again and like Cape May, Atlantic County will welcome them with open arms. Kuehner has delivered in EHC, he is a good man and I am sad to see that he will not be entering the statehouse.
somebody's out of touch
Looks like a bonafide Dem is running after all. What has Kuehner delivered? He won't ever start his business in his own city.
