Hazel Gluck got her consolation prize today: Governor Jon "Hold Me Accountable/Zero Tolerance" Corzine named the Trenton lobbyist to the New Jersey Public Officers Salary Review Commission. In August 2006, Corzine named Gluck to the Board of Trustees of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, but backed off after critics ripped him for Gluck's apparent conflict: she had been the lobbyist for the New Jersey Medical Society.
Some pundits say the latest Gluck nomination is no less conflicting: the Public Officers Salary Review Commission reviewing the salaries of the Governor and cabinet officers, which means, arguably, that she can help set the salaries of the people she lobbies.
Gluck, a former Republican Assemblywoman from Ocean County, held cabinet posts in Governor Thomas Kean's administration.

This has to be a bad joke
Absolutely a conflict. Did Corzine damage his leg or his brain? A lobbyist recommending salaries for the people she lobbies? Welcome to NJ Ethics 101. She had to quit UMDNJ because she lied about representing them. Does this mean the SCI investigation about her UMDNJ role is over since she gets to recommend their salaries too?
Shows What Kind Of Republican She is...
Hazel is pure RINO. He personifies what is wrong with much of the "moderate" wing of the NJ GOP. She just uses the system to enrich herself through her lobbying firm.
Corzine is clueless
How can the gov not view this as a conflict -- lobbyist decides salary of people she lobbies? This is typical Corzine who just doesn't get it
on the flip side...
ever just consider Gluck's omniscient presence on the NJ Lobbying scene? she knows so probably much about the inner workings of medical policy that she's the most qualified candidate to be appointed to the board, despite her allegiances.
nevertheless, ethics should override. we have the public's money at risk, and it should not be mishandled or used for political/personal means, despite losing experience on the board.

Give me a break Adil - The only medical procedure Gluck knows is extracting her foot from her big mouth - she's had lots of practice.
Totally unqualified.
