Release Date: May 7 2007

WOODBRIDGE – On Wednesday, May 9, State lawmakers and regulators and local leaders will hold a news conference at a contaminated industrial site on Pennval Road in Woodbridge to propose tougher, modernized penalties to help clean up our communities in the Garden State.

State Senators Joseph F. Vitale and Barbara Buono will announce that they will introduce legislation the next day, to give the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) greater statutory authority and the ability to impose tougher, meaningful penalties on polluters who are impacting the quality of life in New Jersey neighborhoods.  Assemblymen John Wisniewski and Joseph Vas, who will also be in attendance, will introduce identical legislation in the General Assembly later in the month.
