Pennacchio beats Unanue in Somerset; Lance vs. Whitman headed to second ballot

Senate candidate Joe Pennacchio won the Somerset County Republican convention tonight.

Pennacchio won the county line with 247 votes to rival Andy Unanue’s 51.

Murray Sabrin, who refused to drop his plan to run alternate slates of freeholder candidates, was not allowed to participate.

The seventh district congressional race went to a second round of votes between Kate Whitman and Leonard Lance after no candidates managed to win a simple majority.

Lance got 100 votes in the first round to Whitman's 67.

Six other candidates competed in the convention:

Victor Sordillo - 26 votes

Martin Marks - 17

Thomas Roughneen - 4

A.J. Amar - 3

Kelly Hatfield - 3

Chris Venis- 1

The Somerset Republicans also voted to keep their incumbent freeholders on the county line.

Freeholder Director Peter Palmer got 206 votes, while incumbent Robert Zaborowski got 175. Challengers Finn Caspersen and John Malay got 140 and 93 votes, respectively.

Major win for Pennacchio

Unanue can't win anything where he doesn't have a county chair twisting arms for him.  The only question is whether this liberal abortion loving buffoon drops out of the race before he comes back from Colorado, which I understand will be sometime in mid-May.

Back to the USSR

Somerset County GOP went back to the USSR tonight. Forget Democracy, we decide who speaks, when and about what. No wonder Jersey Joke beat even Andy "the bean" Unanue. The funny thing is that Andy was allowed to speak, however he was not present to exercise this given right. Johny "come late and still undecided" did not show up.

Now, what was Jersey Joke talking about? Was it about the Manifesto and creation of the Nationalist Party? Now, this is not funny.

Congratulations to the Somerset County GOP. You made me proud.
