United States Rep. Frank Pallone endorsed Dennis Shulman in the fifth district Democratic congressional primary.
Shulman, a rabbi and psychologist who’s been blind since childhood, faces Camille Abate for the nomination to take on Republican incumbent E. Scott Garrett.
"I find so much to admire in Dennis's story and message," said Pallone in a press release. "Residents of Northern New Jersey deserve much better representation than what they are getting from Scott Garrett. Dennis' passionate willingness to fight for hardworking families, to end the war in Iraq and to address critical environmental issues is exactly what we need to defeat Congressman Garrett this fall."
Garrett is considered to be relatively safe, though Shulman’s campaign impressed national Democrats with its fundraising. Citing the fundraising numbers, Congressional Quarterly recently bumped up the district’s status from “Safe Republican” to “Republican Favored.”

One blind man supports another?
Is this the biblical story or what?
Frank Pallone is not blind
after 20 years in Congress watching from the sidelines, this much is obvious.
20 years of being virtually invisible means he may in fact be politically mute as well as moot.
Huh? What?
Did I read that correct? Did Frank "Do Nothing" Pallone suggest that people of New Jersey "deserve much better representation"? Was he looking in a mirror when he made that statement? After 20 years of on-going flooding problems in the Bayshore area of his own district, Frank decides to finally ask FEMA to at least delay their rezoning, not to resolve the cause of the flooding problems - just to wait longer to rezone the area - but since no one in the federal government (or anywhere else) respects Frank "Do Nothing" Pallone - we the people aren't expecting his phony efforts, that have come far too late, to mean much. See you in November Frank. http://www.HoganForCongress.com/fema.php
I'm sorry
But Frank Pallone is one of the most popular Congressman in NJ, and easily defeats republican opponents every year. He has brought back tons of money to the state and has been the leading voice in Washington on environmental and health issues.
Frank Pallone's 'leading voice'
is generally a voice of complaining and whining about how the Republicans won't let him do something he feels 'should' be done.
Read his public comments... we 'should' do this... we 'should' do that... the republicans 'should' stop stopping us.... we 'should' hold hearings...
Instead of leading he is 'shoulding' all over us...
Good for the environment?
I keep hearing this line of non-sense but the facts are so far from "good for the environment" that it almost hurts.
Pallone signing a bill that calls for our tax money being spent to monitor and tell us the beaches and rivers we want to use for recreation are polluted is not helping the environment, and in fact confirms he hasn't been effective in reducing pollution or cleaning up the environment. If he was helping the environment, he wouldn't need to authorize our tax money being spent to check for pollution and let us know when the water is polluted, which is just about all of the time lately.
He might also consider stepping in to get the Branchport Creek/Shrewsbury River, in his own hometown within his own district, cleaned up, especially given his political connections to the owners of Monmouth Park/NJSEA who are responsible for the widespread pollution which Pallone has not done.
The "good for the environment" line is BS and the people of NJ know it. As has been said, Pallone is the leader of the "shoulds". It's always the same from Pallone - too little and too late - he's had 20 years to come through with his promises and year after year it's the same tired old story; we've caught on.
