Sabrin celebrates May 5th

Republican Senate candidate Murray Sabrin wants to wish you a happy May 5th – specifically not a happy Cinco de Mayo.

Sabrin plans to use the occasion – the date of the Mexican Army’s 1862 victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla – to rally his supporters against illegal immigration and outline his five point immigration reform plan at a press conference this afternoon in Mount Holly.

“The U.S. Constitution was written in English and these powerful words bind our nation together.  As someone who immigrated legally to the United States as a boy whose second language was English, my family was proud to assimilate into American culture and learn English,” he said in a press release (Sabrin, the son of Jewish holocaust survivors, immigrated to the United States from Poland when he was two-years-old).

Sabrin said that he wants to make English the nation’s official language; further secure the Mexican and Canadian borders; end birth-right citizenship; force illegal immigrants who want to become citizens to return to their countries of origins first; and allow migrant workers who do not want to become citizens to stay but pay a fine and go through a background check.

Sabrin is running for the Republican nomination against former Rep. Dick Zimmer and State Sen. Joe Pennacchio.

This explains why Dr. Sabrin is the F-R-O-N-T-R-U-N-N-E-R !!

What a great plan; this is the type of leadership we need in the U.S. Senate.

How come no one else is talking about the issues?

Has Dick Zimmer ever hired an illegal immigrant (like his buddy Christine Whitman)?

?

Anyone know whether ending birth-right citizenship would require a constitutional amendment?

Sourpuss

Yeah, why try and have some fun on a fun day. Wouldn't want Sabrin's face to break if he cracked a smile. He needs a lesson in lightening up.

4% Murray is Not the Frontrunner

The fact that he, and his supporters, continue to claim that he is the frontrunner really shows how out of touch they are.

05/05/08 1:28 pm

And another thing....

Illegal immigration is a serious problem, and it needs to be addressed. But why criticize Cinco de Mayo? There are plenty of people of Mexican heritage who are here LEGALLY who celebrate the holiday.

The GOP needs to take a strong stance on illegal immigration. The GOP, however, doesn't need a candidate like Murray Sabrin whose xenophobic veiws will alienate a growing segment of our society from the party.

Murray is not a xenophobe

considering his parents survived the Holocaust and Nazi Germany and the oppression that was inflicted on Jews and other minorities.

05/05/08 1:56 pm

This is terrible

Murray has shown his true colors time and time again, but this takes the cake. I am no fan of illegal immigration, and would certainly favor stronger boarder security, but to come out and reduce the issue to language is obserd. In 1776 when the Dec of Ind was written you could literally go to Philadelphia and hear over 16 languages being spoken on Wlanut Street. Murray's ignorance to racial intolerance notwithstanding, i would think that as Irish AMericans are free to celebrate St. Patty's day Mexican Americans are free to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Happy Cinco de Mayo Murray. Murray is such as A**

I'd be blue too if i was as bitter and beholden to collectivism as you are. Are you not getting a complete breakfast because the government cheese is running short?

S-T-O-P spelling

One thing I know as soon as I see NJRonaldReagan, is somewhere in the post he's going to demonstrate his 3rd grade spelling ability. This time he's expanded his vocabulary beyond "loser" and "winner". Frontrunner, that's at least a quarter word! Do you read the polls (and I don't mean the unscientific PolitickerNJ polls)? Sabrin's polling down near the bottom, and this is after 2 statewide runs for office. The man has little name recognition, and his only hope is that he can brainwash enough disillusioned people into supporting his Quixotic campaign. I'm not against him because no one knows him, I'm against him because his campaign has done nothing but mercilessly attack without offering any real plan once he's elected. The Sabrinistas and Paultards need to wake up and smell the java: offer real solutions and work on appealing to the masses, not hoping that you'll squeeze by on the margins. That's why you'll always be an also-ran.

Dr. Sabrin ahead of the field.

As usual Dr. Sabrin surprised his opponents with this initiative. Do you want to talk about illegal immigration? Let's do it. Dr. Sabrin is a doer not a talker.

Masturbator Murray

Masturbator Murray shows once again why playing politics with himself can lead to intellectual blindness and psychotic episodes, at least when it comes to running for public office. It seems Masturbator Murray gets his jollies everytime he releases another statement to the media that nobody pays the slightest attention to except those of us on politickernj.com who need a few laughs.

cinco de campaigno

forget cinco de mayo. There is nothing to celebrate here. The GOP is in a mess and the GOP establishment will NOT support Sabrin or Jersey Joe

It's Time To Give Sabrin A Look - SPOT ON BUBS

by Joseph Racioppi May 01, 2008 5:32AM NJ Star Ledger / NJ.com Murray Sabrin is running for US Senate and compared to the other candidates, he deserves a shot at winning the Republican nomination and beating Frank Lautenberg or whoever the Dems nominate. Looking at the issues objectively, I think the case for Sabrin is strong. What American is not in favor of fiscal responsibility? Securing our borders? On these two issues alone Sabrin has the other candidates beat by a long shot. As Professor of finance at Ramapo College, Sabrin has the background and desire to bring fiscal responsibility to Washington. Democrats will attack Sabrin for his "manifesto" and try to label him an "extremist", but are Democrats in any position to debate Sabrin on fiscal responsibility, or illegal immigration? Senators Menendez and Lautenberg both supported the failed amnesty bill last year, and we all know what a fiscal mess New Jersey is in. Is there really a downside to electing someone who favors fiscal sanity? We have a failure of leadership in Washington. Every election cycle we hear the same tired phrases, promises of change, etc...We've had a failure of leadership on Iraq, Immigration, Social Security, Medicare and of course runaway spending with a national debt of approximately $9 trillion. We so obviously need fiscal responsibility, but no one wants to address the "heart of the matter" which is the fact that our entire financial system needs an overhaul. Now more than ever the actions of the Federal Reserve Bank are relevant and worthy of questioning. Most people know little about this cloistered institution. They think the Fed is a gov't bank, etc... Since the subprime mortgage crisis hit, the Fed has loaned hundreds of billions of dollars to cash strapped banks with the promise of billions more. The Fed made news in March when it assisted in the $30 billion bailout and subsequent purchase of investment bank Bear Stearns by JP Morgan Chase& Co. The investment house was purchased by JP Morgan Chase but their exposure is only one billion. Taxpayers are at risk for $29 billion. Why the Fed chose to bail out Bear Stearns and why JP Morgan got first dibs on its purchase is unclear. What's also unclear is whether the Fed had legal authority for the bailout. Sabrin has been speaking and writing about the Fed for over thirty years. Here is a letter he wrote that was published in the NY Times back in 1976. All other issues are subservient to the money issue. "Follow the money" the saying goes. Even if it's fiat money! No other candidate is willing to take on the financial power called the Fed. At the very least, we need open, intelligent dialogue on this topic. You will not get it with the other candidates. Imagine how hopeful the future can be if for once the government was changed from party hacks to the people's actual representatives! www.murraysabrin.com

Someone who's got it right.

Hooray for Murray Sabrin. He's got it right on ILLEGAL immigration. Illegal is illegal, what do the rest of the pack not understand? I'm glad to see a major candidate stand up and say that we should stop pandering to law breakers who are trying to subordinate English to a second language in this country and who are attempting to destroy our culture and rape our social systems.

Youre funny

I am a self made man my friend. I have never taken a dime from the government. Nevertheless because I am not a bigot and believe that not everyone can simply succeed when the dice are loaded against them, I am somehow a communist. Murray is a joke, this comment is short-sighted and whoafully ignorant of history. Nearly half of the United States was once Mexico and that half of the nation has a right to recognize that. As far as his stance on illegal immigration goes, he is simply baiting the population-no more no less. He is a joke of a candidate, probably a bigot, and a terrible politician. I'll be very happy when this moron gets creamed on election day
