Andrews files FOIA request for Lautenberg rebate records

The Rob Andrews Senate campaign isn’t giving up on proving that Frank Lautenberg claimed Washington, DC as his primary residence.

Despite a letter that Lautenberg’s campaign produced stating that he received a homestead tax deduction by mistake – a prerequisite of which is to claim the town as a primary residence – Andrews filed a Freedom of Information Act request today with the city’s Office of Tax and Revenue for all records pertaining to the rebate.

Andrews said that Lautenberg would have had to affirmatively apply for the program and acknowledge Washington, DC as his primary residence.

“We have been advised by the District of Columbia, Office of Tax and Revenue that it is and has been impossible to receive the Homestead Deduction unless an application is completed,” read a letter attached to the FOIA request from Andrews counsel William Tambussi.

A press release today said that the Andrews campaign will “take all legal action necessary to compel the release of the documents.

“We believe that Senator Lautenberg knew exactly what he was doing in filing for the property-tax deduction in Washington," Andrews Campaign Chairman Mike Murphy. "By claming Washington D.C. as his primary residence, Frank Lautenberg would not even have been eligible to vote in New Jersey, let alone serve as its U.S. Senator."

Lautenberg spokeswoman Julie Roginsky said that Andrews does not need to go through the trouble of filing a FOIA request.

They can file anything they want. I’ll be happy to give them the letter that said that Sen. Lautenberg neither asked for nor filed for the rebate,” she said.  “They want to keep inventing things because they don’t want to talk about Congressman Andrews’s record on the war in Iraq.”

ADNREWS GIVE UP

My lord - this guy has nothing to campaign on other than this CRAP! It's getting old Rob - you;re getting desperate because Frank is going to wipe the floor with you in two weeks! Rob you want to beat up Frank Lautenberg for living in NJ for 84 years, going to school here, starting ADP here, raising his family here and representing NJ as it's distinguished Senator for 24 years? Are you kidding???? I have an idea Rob, quit worrying about Frank and instead tell us why you make promises to your own party that you cant keep? Tell us why you didn't tell your colleagues that you wanted to run against Frank and instead snuck yourself onto the ballot secretly. Tell us who you work for - Norcross and that's it! You are bought and paid for Rob and you will be out of the world of politics for good June 3rd. You should worry about sending $2m in taxpayer dollars to your wife! Rob you have not spoken once about why you are more qualified to fill this seat, all you whine about is debates and residency and both are moot issue to voters. Rob you cannot be trusted. VOTE JUNE 3RD FOR FRANK LAUTENBERG!

Norcross pulling the Andrews strings

Well, it is obvious that south Jersey Democratic Boss George Norcross continues to pull Andrews' strings. The attorney filing this FOIA request is Willam Tambussi, legal eagle for the Norcross empire.

This is not meant to be a disparaging knock against King George, but just a statement of the obvious that it is Mr. Norcross who is the master puppeteer behind this quixotic adventure of Rob Andrews.

Meanwhile, as Mr. Tambussi rummages around the attic looking for Lautenberg's rebate records, our fine U.S. Senator is busy keeping our ports safe, air clean and water pure.

Thank you Senator Lautenberg for working hard on behalf of your New Jersey constituents and the entire country at-large.

make it public

Lautenberg should release all tax records, not the partial ones from this week, and this controversy could be over; but when multiple reports (KC Star and others) suggest that that a U.S. senator lives in another state, and workers at the Bergen County residence of said senator say that haven't seen Lautenberg in years, then legitimate questions should be asked about residency.

Andrews is one of few senators or congressman to release his earmarks, too; Lautenberg needs to follow suit.

Really!?!

Seriously, NO ONE cares about this issue. Focus upon the War in Iraq, the economy, gas prices, port security, the sad shape of food prices, etc. Rather than dealing with these REAL issues, the WaWa bunch rather waste everyone's time with nonense issues. Who cares where he lives? New York, DC, Mars - at least he's talking about REAL issues.

Forgetful Lautenberg

Maybe he doesn't remember doing it, like he doesn't remember being a cheerleader for Bush's war in Iraq.

Frank is greedy millioner!

What's new? The problem is that Frank claims to represent blue collar and working people of NJ. Then, what is the problem with making your tax returns public? Frank is too rich! That's the problem. I am tired of greedy millioners claiming to represent blue collar and working people of NJ interests. I would suggest to release investments profits from the holdings of all oil companies stocks held by Frank. On the other hand, this might explain his opposition to oil drilling offshore of NJ. Why would the blue collar and working people of NJ want to benefits from all the profits generated by such a drilling? Frank's profits would definitely go down in such case. Viva la Frank, the greedy millioner.

Mistake ???

Lautenberg received a Homestead Tax Deduction by mistake ? Give us a break ! He couldn't get one unless he filed for one. Who the hell does he think he's kidding ? Mistake my ass ! It's time for this guy to get out and stop riding the gravy train. Maybe his age is making him a bit senile. I don't think that we need such a "mistake" prone man representing us in Washington any longer.

Who Cares? High Gas prices!

Talking about high gas prices, Ganny's TV Ads promote how he stopped the drilling for oil off the coast. That's just great! Until we find alternatives, it's about time we use all options. He's part of the problem.
