Whelan, Perr want Andrews to run for Senate

State Sen. Jim Whelan (D-Atlantic) tonight called for U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews to challenge U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg in a Democratic primary.

"In light of today's news stories regarding Congressman Rob Andrews' interest in running for the U.S. Senate this year, I strongly encourage Rob to run," Whelan said in a statement.

"Rob has been an outstanding congressman and a part of our extended family here in Atlantic County," the senator added. "He has always been there for us throughout his tenure in the House and there's no doubt that his being at the top of our state's ballot this year would be a huge benefit to our local ticket. As Atlantic County's highest ranking Democratic official I urge Rob to consider getting in the race."

Whelan's urging of an Andrews run came as Burlington County Democratic Chairman Richard Perr issued his own release, clarifying his position as another Andrews supporter.

"While I most certainly do not wish Sen. Lautenberg any ill will, I want
to set the record straight about a press release issued by his campaign
inaccurately listing my organization as having endorsed his re-election
efforts," said Perr.

"While Senator Lautenberg has served his country and our state honorably, Congressman Rob Andrews represents a new generation of leadership," Perr added. "That's why I support Congressman Andrews without reservation in any bid he may make for the U.S. Senate."

Umm, I...errr...umm

Support Rob Andrews because...umm...I think he is great and part of our extended...umm...corrupt...no, no, no,...I mean part of our extended family.

Yep.  I have always been a big supporter of whomever I am told to support or my name isn't (insert weak Dem official from SJ here).

What a joke!

Perr is a pussy...cat on the lap of Norcross.  Whelan - welcome to the club!

just what I thought

Well, Whelan and Perr are both respected, powerful figures, and their endorsements have heft, to state the obvious. This is what I thought it was turning out to be: The Southern Dems rising up against the Northern establishment. The most sustained gains for N.J. Democrats in recent years, on a local and district-wide level, have been in the South, so some reward must be reaped.

The problem

The problem is that you don't "think" rationally Alice.  Rick Perr - "powerful" and "respected'?  Are you freaking kidding me?  Thanks for the laugh.  Seems they are all at your expense these days.

Thanks for that thoughtful

Thanks for that thoughtful political analysis and contribution to this forum, the oc (still anonymous, I see). You need not follow me like a lost puppy around every thread, as you know how to contact me instead. Better hurry -- Boss Paulsen may need you to run to Dunkin Donuts for him this morning, and Sagnip or Bush may need you to be an apologist yet again for them.

Alice

Still making up fictitious stories again I see.  Hey Alice - when I see you telling blatant lies or making things up, I call you out on them.  Like calling Rick Perr "powerful" and "respected."  He is neither.  And please don't think too highly of yourself.  I have no interest in following you anywhere especially your little rabbit hole.  And you are one to talk about kissing butt.  If Rick Perr stopped short, you'd be crammed up his rabbit hole so far you'd see out of his mouth when he yawned.

Perr

Is def a Norcross lacky. Whelan has disapointed me here.

Thanks OC

Once again, you know how to call them! lolol

Perr couldnt win an election if he tried, and he has been proven to be a loser leader.  Lets recap shall we??

1.  The wins in Mount Laurel were flukes because of the anti bush stance two years ago.

2.  Then Perr thought he had gained some golden fleece in the forms of Bodine and Riley, both of whom were touted as sure fire winners in November.

3.  His recruitment of Dennison to take down Allen backfired horribly

4.  His backing of no named candidates like Bader and Braxton further hurt the dems

5.  His loss in Hanover says volumes

And now, he is throwing his weight behind Andrews??? Rob is where he is in congress for a reason; he is unelectable anywhere else.  His anti military, anti defense fits right into Adler's talking points.

All Martys talk about Boss Paulesn only shows his arrogance and contempt for someone who knows how to win races!

His anti military, anti defense fits right into Adler's talking

????not sure if you are referring to Rob or Adler

Rob is pro military and pro defense. Some of his biggest supporters are military defense companies located in Camden and Pennsauken.

Plus has numerous Lockheed executives living in his district.

Now Adler is different , he is anti military and anti defense.

Andrews is Anti Defense

Like Adler, he is on the same talking points. Talk to some people over at Lockeehd or orther defense places; he has not worked well with them.

But, there is a reason why Andrews is where he is because he is unelectable any place else.
