In the state's most Democratic county, Hudson County Republican Chairman Jose Arango today announced that his organization is awarding the primary ballot line to U.S. Senate candidate Andy Unanue.
“Andy Unanue is the change New Jersey needs in the U.S. Senate,” Arango said. “He brings youth and energy along with the traditional Republican principles of lower taxes and smaller government. Hudson County is proud to endorse Andy Unanue for U.S. Senate.”
Former CEO of family business Goya Foods, Unanue has also received the line in Atlantic, Cape May, Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
“I appreciate the confidence of Chairman Arango and the Hudson County Republican Organization,” said Unanue. “As I’ve said, my family and I have been fortunate to be able to work hard and achieve our goals, and I want to make sure that New Jersey continues to be a place where those same opportunities for success are available to everyone.”

Hudson GOP? HA!
The Hudson County GOP is a joke. They probably just picked a random candidate to make it seem like they excist.
In case noone knows... Jose Arango (Hudson GOP Chairman) his boss is Jersey City Mayor Healy, who is alos the Chairman of the Hudson County Democratic Organization.
Arango is another Democratic Machine puppet.
Faxed from the Slopes
“I appreciate the confidence of Chairman Arango and the Hudson County Republican Organization,” said Unanue. “As I’ve said, my family and I have been fortunate to be able to work hard and achieve our goals, and I want to make sure that New Jersey continues to be a place where those same opportunities for success are available to everyone.”
I guess this was faxed in from Vail, Colorado?
These GOP Chairman who have tanked it for Unanue based on a phone call and probably a big check are going to have some explaining to do...
WOW - Hudson has a GOP Chairman
Hey Sparky, I bet you were like a proud father last Saturday with your girl Christie, opps I mean Kate winning the coveted Middlesex convention
Ecstatic
Clarky,
I was more like ecstatic when the results came in because the best candidate won and will win tomorrow night in Somerset and then on to the Primary in June to the final victory in November against Stender.
No one worked harder than the candidate herself, as Kate went door to door, made phone calls and was the only candidate with a plan on what she was going to do and how she was going to do it.
RE: "Red Bull & Vodka"
Hey, I bet he'll throw a hell of a election night party...I'd wanna be there...
Oh stop Sparky...
BRB...I have to go put my boots on...the BS is piling awfully high in here. Do you really believe what you wrote? her lack of experience scares me and just because she worked for a handful of Reps doesnt make her her qualified...heck I use to do some filing part time for a doctor when I was high school...according to Kate's logic I am qualified to be a doctor.
Think about this:
Choose one:
1) Never uses drugs. Successful. Holds a PhD in Economics. For States rights, low taxes and limited government.
2) Uses drugs. Inherited wealth. Holds a GED in General Studies. For the status-quo/Establishment, has paid more in liquor/cigarette taxes than income taxes and believes in Rudy Giuliani "limited BIG government".
Jose the Turncoat
All I can do is issue Mr. Unanue the same Warning I issue to everybody else.
DO NOT, under any circumstances whatsoever, give Jose Arango ANY MONEY. He is NOT on your side.
To answer the question, no, there is no real Republican Party or Chairman in Hudson County and the reason is because it's set up that way intentionally by the Democrats.
HCDO Chairman Jerremiah Healy is Jose Arango's boss and Arango contributed $1500 in HCRP funds to Healy's re-election campaign for Mayor next year which I have detailed here multiple times already. It is nepotism and cronyism of the third degree.
In other words, typical Hudson County.

Hey kbox...Think about this
1) is a brazen shill who spouts of endlessly about a candidate no one is interested in the delusional hopes that he can make him appear credible. As if these hopelessly tedious comments weren't offensive enough, he continues to lob insults and personal attacks at the other candidates in the misguided belief that this makes his favored candidate look more attractive. Most of these attacks consist of name calling, baseless innuendo and pure fiction.
In reality, his preferred candidate was a non-starter to begin with and these scandalous, baseless (and irrelevant) attacks by the candidate and his surrogates just make that candidate look ...let's say "fringier"
2) Aww heck, there's no one else to talk about. This is all you toolbox
Wow, Hudson County has GOP.
We can rest relieved that Hudson County GOP is alive and kicking. Marching on with this madness (Andy "the bean" Unanue).
HCYR
What Mr. Unanue needs to do is get together with people like Fernando Uribe and the Hudson County Young Republlicans who are a strong, eager and determined grassroots group who are going to be willing to do the dirty work neccesary to help get him elected. That is the only group of good Republicans in Hudson he is going to get any help which is why Arango continuously tries to stop their ability to grow and take control of the party.
While he can't ignore Arango completely, I will give Andy another piece of advice. In the words of Michael Corleone, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Does Kbox use drugs?
I can only assume, since the Sabrinistas are the only ones who come on here and hurl as much unsubstatiated mud around as they can, that his example 1 is supposed to be Murray. What makes Murray successful in your definition? He gets a government paycheck from a college (and not a great one last I checked with anyone's independent rankings). How is that success? Show me a job he created or a company he ran or anything having to do with creating economic opportunity for others? He says he did real estate sales...my mom has her real estate license...that make her qualified too?
Murray's PhD is in economic geography...not economics. Look at what wikipedia has to say about economic geography (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_geography) "Economic geography is the study of the location, distribution and spatial organization of economic activities across the Earth...Economic geography is usually regarded as a subfield of the discipline of geography" This guy is no economist...he's a geographer and apparently prone to exaggerating his credentials.
Murray's master's is from Lehman College (a CUNY outpost in the Bronx) and his undergrad is from Hunter College (another CUNY outpost whose "campus" is 4 bldgs on Park Ave in Manhattan! Funny how a guy who believes government does and spends too much went only to schools that were owned and funded by government!) Apparently Murray is so embarrased by that he doesn't list Hunter on his own website, you have to go look him up at his government job at Ramapo to find that out. Besides, how do we know he never used/uses drugs?
As for the second part...I can only assume he's talking Unanue. What can you offer to substantiate your statement that he uses drugs? He owns a restaruant / bar / nightclub, so he must be a drug user? Someone should tell Guy Gregg that I guess! He's not married so he must be a drug user? Someone should tell Bill Baroni that I guess! GED? The guy graduated from the same high school as John Crowley (Bergen CATHOLIC!), graduate from Univ of Miami (# 52 on US World and News Report list of Top Universities in America - sorry, couldn't find Hunter or Lehman on that list) and has his MBA from the number 1 ranked international business school in the US (according to U.S. News & World Report rankings and the Financial Times and Wall St. Journal/Harris Interactive survey of recruiters) And as for the rest, neither you nor anyone else can put forward a single shred of evidence to support anything. It's all just mudslinging and name calling and supposition. Give it a rest.
Check out Pennachio's release today...sounds like a good idea from me. How about we elevate the debate here ourselves and stop all the bs rumormongering etc. Kbox is probably a Democrat anyway!
SHAME ON UNANUE
Unanue's opponents should issue press releases demanding that he renounce this worthless endorsement. Arango embodies everything that is wrong with Hudson County politics. As it was pointed out, he literally works for the Hudson County Democrat Chairman. Arango's role is to provide token or non-opposition to the Democrat machine. Arango has been known to endorse Democrat candidates, on Republican stationery. He even steered Republican Party funds to the re-election campaign of Democrat Mayor Healy of Jersey City.
I am sure that Arango has endorsed Unanue in order to receive a nice financial donation. That is why Arango initially endorsed Estabrook. This endorsement is truly meaningless, and Unanue would be wise to reject it.
IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID, AND FINANCES, STUPID
GOPanimal no harm intended.
Work with Arango, not against!
These so-called Young republicans are a real joke! They move in from out of town (usually the Republican controlled suburbs) and think they can change the world overnight. Arango does quite well with what our county has to offer. As a former member of the Young Republicans, I feel I wasted my time with them. Jose, in the ten or so years I have known him, has always tried to field the best slate of candidates and work with ALL newcomers to the party. However, these outsiders want to take over with no clue whatsoever.
Also, last time I checked, Jersey City was a city with a non-partisan form of government. Republicans and Dems work together in municipal elections. I, for one, will continue to work with Jose with the idea that someday our time will come (again) remember 1985 and Tom Kean. Let's work together and make the party stronger!

Nice try, Maryanne but we all know it's you.
"Never attempt to murder a man who is committing suicide."- Woodrow Wilson
WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM?
These so-called experts with all the ideas just don't get it. If you are so angry at Arango, let me ask you one question: Why don't you try to help instead of impede the progress of the Hudson GOP? It is nearly impossible to win a county wide seat or general election because of the numbers, not the leadership. The GOP is outnumbered 6-1 in Hudson. We HAVE elected Republicans under Arango's leadership. What about Frank Gargiulo (commissioner in Northe Bergen) or Alberto Rodriguez (commissioner in West New York). Doesn't that count? How about Mary Krajewski, a councilwoman in Bayonne? The GOP, under Jose, has helped elect Republicans, you just don't want to see it. Grow up.
Donation for what?
Why would Arango ask for a donation from Unanue? He and his family, from what I understand, have no other source of income beside their regular jobs. They are not on any boards, paying or otherwise, and don't have family on the payroll, which is more than most people can say. I don't know if Arango gave or raised money to Healy, but what does that have to do with anything? Haely runs in a municipal election and there are no party lines. All I can say is that he has a thankless job. He may be imperfect, but at least he tries. It is a thankless job, having to deal with know-it-alls like you.
CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
For those who are less familiar with Hudson County politics, Dino is referring to Arango's wife (who also works for Democrat Mayor Healy). It is sadly the norm for Hudson Republican "leaders" to work as employees of their respective Democrat mayors. This, needless to say, constitutes a serious conflict of interest.
Regardless of who "grizzlyboy" is, "his" points are not very persuasive.
First of all, grizzlyboy's treatment of the Young Republicans lends insight to the problem. The past YR chairman, Joe Mendez, resigned his position in order to join the Army. He then bravely served our nation in Iraq, and is now recovering at Walter Reed. I wouldn't call him a "joke." Their current chairman, Fernando Uribe, recently earned a PhD, and now teaches Political Science. Is he a "joke," too? Neither of these individuals started out as rivals of Arango. They sincerely wanted to cooperate with their official party chairman. Over time, however, they grew disillusioned after witnessing Arango repeatedly sell out to the Democrat machine. I would add that Arango's detractors are not limited to the Young Republicans. The Hoboken Republican Club, which includes Republicans young and old, has grown thoroughly disillusioned with him. In fact, most Hudson County Republicans I know (who don't work for their Democrat mayors) have little regard for Arango.
Second, why does grizzlyboy use the word "newcomer" as an epithet? There are more and more newcomers to Hudson County. The Republican Party should welcome them with open arms, not view them with suspicion. Sure, grizzlyboy pays lip service to welcoming newcomers, but his overall tone is revealing.
As for his characterization of Hudson County municipal politics as "nonpartisan," grizzlyboy should tell that to the Hudson County Democrats, who pour massive resources into "nonpartisan" elections.
I still fail to see why scarce Republican Party funds should be devoted to the re-election campaign of a Democrat mayor (who is also boss of the Hudson County Democrat Machine). Perhaps grizzlyboy will enlighten us.
Let's suppose for a moment there is a meaningful distinction between "nonpartisan" municipal elections and "partisan" county and state elections. Why has Arango endorsed Democrats even in partisan elections (for State Senate, for instance)?

I'm not Maryanne. Try again!!!!

No way, Jose!;-)
Sorry, but I've already run out of people who would sincerely defend Jose with a straight face.
