TRENTON - Morristown Mayor Donald Cresitello today filed petitions to run for U.S. Senate in the Democratic primary.
"We've collected 1,300 signatures and we hope to collect another 200 by noon," Cresitello said this morning.
This afternoon, Cresitello told PolitickerNJ.com that supporters of his delivered over 1,300 peititons to the state Division of Elections office at about 20 minutes to four.
"Not bad for a week's worth of collecting," said the mayor.
The campaigns of U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg and U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews also filed their petitions for U.S. Senate today in Trenton.

I don't really see how is an attractive candidate. Even ignoring his failed attempt at 287g, he recently has stated that cities need more eminent domain power, which seems pretty unattractive if you are a property owner anywhere at all. There is a lot of building in Morristown, but there seems to have been no thought to the traffic it will bring and as far as I can tell, he hopes it will just work out with 1000+ more cars plopped downtown;when bike lanes were suggested last year to Cresitello, he said it was a stupid idea and too dangerous. He seems pretty pro-car, which confuses me because I saw one article that said he would like to decrease dependency on oil. I am really interested in how he has been against the war and whatever else he is claiming he is for/against, if he has a campaign website, can someone point me to it?
