Republican U.S. Senate candidate Murray Sabrin stakes his claim as the party's consistent defender of the Constitution.
An economist, Sabrin says unlike some of the other candidates and would-be primary candidates, he has shown decisiveness in his campaign and a willingness to engage what he calls the key issue of monetary depreciation.

It's that scarf which makes Murray!
I like this guy.
I like this guy.
A well spoken man
I like what the man has to say. I look forward to hearing more at the debate.
It's nice to hear the words out of the candidates mouth. Lets hope there is more to come.
I think the is a race between Murray and Joe. Who else is left. The GOP has asked just about everybody else.
Anyway lets see more of this.
Unreal
This guy is a walking talking Saturday Night Live skit.
I'm still waiting to hear Dr. Sabrin say he's going to repay the public financing he accepted during his last failed run for office. Once he does that, I'll start actually listening to his BS.
By the way, let's be serious, you're a professor at Ramapo, not the London School of Economics. Let me know when you get a job at an accredited university.
Funny stuff!
I find it hysterically funny that Murray Sabrin suddenly wants to stick to the issues and debate the issues when he has spent the last 2 months absolutely smearing his opponents. The guy operates like a Clinton, has run as a liberatarian and now proclaims to be an issues candidate. Funny stuff, especially the scarf!

I think some of you would post negative on any bit of news. All anybody said was it was a good interview. Lets try posting on this specific bit of news with out the same old tired rhetoric.
I would love to hear all the candidates issues. Lets hope there is a debate soon.
I think that would be best. I can make up my mind after I hear them speak. I dont care much for the he said she said nonsense.
The press has to sell papers... I just what to know who I'm voting...
Lets have more of this type of reporting
politicker.
Eloquent
Whatever the Establishment may say about Sabrin, he is certainly a good speaker and has a clear understanding of his philosophy and principles. This will come through if any of the other Republicans will debate him.
It is the economy stupid and finances, stupid
What else can I say. Unless, I get a free can of Goya beans from Andy, I am going to stick with Dr. Sabrin. Finally, somebody who can put two sentences together and make sense. To my surprise, he did not mention Ronald Reagan at all like some other candidates do all the time.
On the other hand, I would like to discuss the issue of creating a nationalist party in NJ. In light of some actions taken by the back to the USSR Chairmen, I think we need a strong Leader, who could reign them in like Jersey Joke for example. The first order would be to buss them in to a military base for a reeducation camp for a month. Some of them would need the boot camp anyway to loose some fat.
While you are at it, put Andrews and Frankie on the bus as well.
How Come?
How come real life Murray and in this video Murray is so much different than most press releases Murray?
Where has this Murray been?
How is it different?
How is it different? Explain.
Re: How Come?
Let's also keep in mind that we are still about two months from the primary election. Most people have not even begun to care about this race. The more Sabrin speaks, the better he will do...it is that simple.
Political Insiders
When commentators on PolitickerNJ say that Sabrin is campaigning dirty or negatively, this does not really affect the race. Most voters do not read this website and therefore do not care about who releases press releases. When Sabrin debates he will be able to hit any question out of the park and voters will see that. There needs to be a debate.
Hmmmmm...
Murray seems to be very well spoken, well informed and genuine here. It really makes me wonder if he's really behind all of the venom and slime or if somebody within his campaign is behind it. Even if that's the case, Murray's still tolerating and condoning it which doesn't make me feel any better about his candidacy.
Furthermore, if the inmates are running the asylum within his campaign, how can we expect him to be an effective leader for New Jersey in the US Senate?

Why Sabrin's Campaign has Attacked
I do not work for the campaign but my theory is this:
The leadership of Ron Paul 2008 has been heavily criticized for several decisions. Sabrin for Senate's goal is to win the election because the country is in an economic crisis thus it'd be good to have a PhD in Economic Geography and Finance Professor in the U.S. Senate.
Furthermore, Ron Paul supporters including Murray have been broadly insulted unjustly and ridiculed by people like Rudy Giuliani, who Andy Unanue donated money to. However, the 9/11 Commission Report, the CIA and the former lead CIA Agent hunting Bin Laden, the 9/11 Families and First Responders and every legitimate book on foreign policy and blowback agree with Ron Paul and not Rudy.
Ron Paul has been called "crazy" by MSNBC reporters such as Joe Scarborough yet don't even imply Clinton's spokesman has angry issues or good bye TV-show.
You can see the problem of Jeffersonian Republicans and the Federalist Republicans (neocons, Big Gov Repubs) in this article by the Washington Times -
http://www.washingtontimes.com/article/20080319/NATION/231391516
If you don't attack, especially respond swiftly to attacks, you will lose the game of politics. The Karl Rove strategy is requisite on both sides of the aisle and in times of great need, I support anyone who stands up for real money policy and truth.
A Clintonian Libertarian is a dream come true. This has nothing to do with political correctness. It has to do with a serious and looming problem the nation has and who is best to fix it.
The debate is only over what causes inflation, which is a silent tax that increases the cost of energy and food and steals the wealth from the middle class. The monetarists like the late Milton Friedman believe inflation is caused by increasing the money supply (new credit, low interest rates, etc).
Keynesians believe in priming the pump, increasing the money supply and that demand is more important relative to inflation then say printing several TRILLION in new money. (think of issuing new shares in a corporation and the resulting dilution is stock price.)
Remember, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carroll_Reece was once the Chairman of the RNC and if he were alive today I'm confident he'd be supporting Sabrin. 60 years ago he investigated the foreign policy establishment and exposed the State Department infiltration by the Federal Reserve Corporation shareholders/interests in order to incite war and enage in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_Keynesianism.
The Republican party has great ideals and Dr. Murray Sabrin will bring them back to the GOP in the tradition of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan (before he was President).

A Message from the RNC Chairman
If you want to see conclusive evidence that the Federal Reserve Corporation owners and interests have infiltrated the State Department to start wars watch the Reece Commission investigator Norman Dodd on video -
http://unitedelite.net/dodd.wmv
It was the first President of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Nicholas Murray Butler, who first came up with the idea that through war we can change the world and thus implement what HG Wells called "the Open Conspiracy". A well known, noble intent for rich idealists to restructure the world's governments to end war through Fabian socialism. This is well documented in the Carnegie Archvies at Columbia Unviersity and in the Library of Congress.
Voting for anyone but Murray Sabrin in the NJ Republican primary is a vote for the political agenda of the private Federal Reserve.
Remember the CFR's headquarters in NYC is a former Standard Oil Executive's residence and the CFR Think Tank is called the David Rockefeller Studies Program. David of course is the heir to Standard/Exxon Mobil etc, a Fabian socialist and a shareholder in JP Morgan and thus a shareholder in the Federal Reserve Corporation.
A Message from the RNC Chairman (1946-1948), documented in the the East Tennessee University Archives of Appalachia and the Library of Congress -
http://www.etsu.edu/cass/Archives/Collections/afindaid/a3.html#IIIL
"Miss Casey's report (Hearing pp. 877 et seq.) shows clearly the interlock between The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and some of its associated organizations, such as the Council on Foreign Relations and other foundations, with the State Department. Indeed, these foundations and organizations would not dream of denying this interlock. They proudly note it in reports. They have undertaken vital research projects for the Department; virtually created minor departments or groups within the Department for it; supplied advisors and executives from their ranks; fed a constant stream of personnel into the State Department trained by themselves or under programs which they have financed; and have had much to do with the formation of foreign policy both in principle and detail."
"They have, to a marked degree, acted as direct agents of the State Department. And they have engaged actively, and with the expenditure of enormous sums, in propagandizing ('educating') public opinion in support of the policies which they have helped to formulate....What we see here is a number of large foundations, primarily The Rockefeller Foundation, the Carnegie Corporation of New York, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, using their enormous public funds to finance a one-sided approach to foreign policy and to promote it actively, among the public by propaganda, and in the Government through infiltration. The power to do this comes out of the power of the vast funds employed."
Excuses, Excuses
That is an awful lot of bloviating to defend and justify what has been, up until now, nothing more than childish and immature namecalling by the Sabrin campaign.
Ron Paul getting getting picked on is neither an excuse nor is it a scapegoat for the Sabrin campaign's guttersnipe tactics and it does absolutely nothing for his credibility which prior to now was already slim to none.
Now, instead of trying to legitimately gain and build his credibility by speaking on the campaign trail the way he did in this video clip, he seems content to allow his campaign to do nothing but ruin him by spewing vitriol.
These sort of tactics are all well and good if you're a blogger but not if you're a candidate for US Senate.
You can reason and make excuses for bad behavior and play the victim card all you want but the bottom line is that people who don't realize that this kind of slime does more harm than good in politics really has no business whatsoever running a political campaign for a School Board candidate, let alone a US Senate candidate.
To cut a long story short, whip out a violin and cry me a river.

I Agree DinoPCrocetti
The great thing about a politician is they are supposed to listen to their constistuents. So please contact Sabrin for Senate and share your sentiments. I agree, I don't like the hardcore attacks but if my house is on fire I'm not going to care about the personalities of the firemen -- just that they have the solution to save my house.
If you can disprove the information I posted about the foreign policy establishment, please do because maybe there's another side to the story. And be aware that the CFR has publicly stated they want to abolish the dollar because "national currencies and global markets do not mix". It's the well known 6-step economic integration from former World Bank economist Bela Balassa. Doesn't that concern you?
As others pointed out, the voting populace is largely unaware of Sabrin's attacks. So let's get Sabrin for Senate to focus on the issues and not the attacks. The candidates for the race have been decided.
Let's schedule the debate between the 3 of them and find out who is most qualified to voice the concerns of New Jersey and the Nation as a whole in the U.S. Senate.
Agree?
Dino
I agree - this is the Murray that can go places. I like where he stands on most of the issues, and when he sticks to the issues, I feel that Sabrin is head and shoulders above any other candidate (Dem or Rep) in this campaign for U.S. Senate.
I've also felt that the majority of the press releases from the Sabrin campaign are not the words of Murray himself, but some overzealous staffer. This is not to excuse the candidate however, who should put a stop to the behavior, but hopefully yesterday's comments from Sabrin will signal a change in tact.
I'm all for pointing out the faults of political opponents, but prefer to see it done at the intellectual level that I know Murray is capable of, and not in a schoolyard manner.
Individualist
Political ideology is completely irrelevant to the point that I'm illustraing here which is the same point I've been making on this site and my own blog for a long time now in reference to tactical political methods.
You can have the greatest political message and/or agenda in the world but if you don't know what it takes to win from a tactical standpoint, you're not going to get anywhere.
Barack Obama is the perfect example of what proper tactical political strategy is all about. He has done absolutely nothing but blow smoke up people's butts for for over a year now on the campaign trail but he's an excellent campain tactician who surrounds himself with the right people due in large part because he's a product of a well oiled, Chicago/Daley/Cook County Democrat machine that has taught him very well what it takes to win.
Remember too that Ronald Reagan was an idealist, not an ideologue who also knew that in order to beat Democrats, you had to use their own tactics against them and beat them at their own game.
"Political correctness is tyranny with manners." - Charlton Heston
Sabrin's Tactics
I can tell you that Sabrin's tactics have already turned off a large number of voters. While I'm not certain how, Sabrin has managed to obtain the email address of nearly everyone at my company. As a result, he has been sending out his hate-filled rants to hundreds and hundreds of people who aren't even New Jersey residents. The result is that these people are annoyed by the constant barrage of emails and the vitriolic tone of these screeds. I have had people from all over the country email me if I know this "nutjob." The Republicans at the New Jersey offices of my company have all opted out of his email or put him on their list of blocked emails. This includes those who are ideologically in tune with Murray. While this is certainly a small sampling of the general population, the fact that I know at least 25 Republicans at my company who are complaining about him and no of none who are going to support him tells me he has lost this election with his constant negative tone. Way to go Dr. Sabrin. Perhaps you should can your little buddy that is sending out the daily harangue and instead focus on policy.
Murray the Map Maker
Murray's PhD is in economic geography...not economics. Look at what wikipedia has to say about economic geography (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_geography) "Economic geography is the study of the location, distribution and spatial organization of economic activities across the Earth...Economic geography is usually regarded as a subfield of the discipline of geography" This guy is no economist...he's a geographer and apparently prone to exaggerating his credentials.
Murray's master's is from Lehman College (a CUNY outpost in the Bronx) and his undergrad is from Hunter College (another CUNY outpost whose "campus" is 4 bldgs on Park Ave in Manhattan! Funny how a guy who believes government does and spends too much went only to schools that were owned and funded by government!) Apparently Murray is so embarrased by that he doesn't list Hunter on his own website, you have to go look him up at his government job at Ramapo to find that out.
He may, from time to time, have some interesting to say, but it's really hard to take his "proper role of government" schtick seriously when the hypocrit draws his paycheck from the taxpayers.
any legal and ethical means justifies the end
I understand your opinion but perhaps after looking at what you say from another perspective you will understand why it is incorrect.
To suggest a person is unable to use the legal methods allowed by the government to be elected to office and rather do some impractical idealistic stunt that would certainly hurt their campaign, thus they lose the campaign -- how does that help the public?
In other words, you are effectively saying that the only people who will get elected are those who abuse (legally) the system, those who play the game and those who will never change anything.
It is not overtly Machiavellian to use the same system and every fair benefit including matching funds in order to archive a GOAL, that is getting in office to be able to reduce REAL issues like deficit spending, inflation and too much government.
I believe everyone understands the rational and logical argument of changing the system from the inside. As Milton Friedman said, when the crisis comes it is the ideas that are on the table that get implemented.
If you don't engage the system and follow the Socratic Law of Causality (do exactly what others did and achieve the same results), then you will never get anyone elected and the system will never change.
Conversely, since you are so against government matching funds for political candidates, I assume you won't be voting for ANY candidate for the New Jersey Senate.
In which case, you and every issue you care about, is not on the table, not in the kitchen -- not even in the same house.
We can be protesting on the streets (or the Internet) but unless our ideas are represented at the table of policy making then nothing changes.
Be a realist to get an idealist into office.
Paul Krugman the Map Maker? Ever hear of Globalization?
To suggest Murray knows more about cartography than economics is illustrative of the fact that you know little about him or economics.
If you are correct, then Krugman (professor of economics and international affairs at Princeton) must too be a lowly ol' map maker.
Geographic economics has a lot to with economic integration and globalization. And what is the biggest issue today? Plus it is directly related to foreign policy.
BTW, Jersey Joe is a DENTIST. Murray has a PhD in Economy Geography (and I've know this all along, just shortened it for simplisticity).
PLEASE post something on Jersey Joe or Andy Unanue that suggests even 1% of what this does about Dr. Murray Sabrin.

You clearly have know clue as to how the game is played, my friend and neither does Murray Sabrin which is precisely why he doesn't stand a chance in June.
You can give all of the ideological, economical and philisophical lectures you want here but the bottom line is that Murray has amateurs and political novices running his campaign and supporting his candidacy who don't know the first thing about winning an election.
If a candidate doesn't know how to surround himself with the right people to run his campaign, it will be over before it starts and if he doesn't do that then he has nobody to blame but himself.
Personal responsibility, my friend. I know you're all for that...aren't you???
"Political correctness is tyranny with manners." - Charlton Heston
Dino - will you help then?
Who are you supporting?
Why don't you assist the Sabrin Campaign on who to hire and what to do?
I always assumed the game was played by playing the game. In otherwords, if I was Ron Paul 2008 I would of hired RNC/GOP insiders, people who have won campaign and heck even Karl Rove.
To suggest I have "know idea" what I'm talking about is a little presumptive. My close friend was instrumental in electing Rudy Giuliani and he worked for years in his administration as a result. He ran one of the largest political groups in NYC and has taught me a little of his knowledge.
But by all means, elucidate how to play the game -- please.
It seems like the way to win a campaign is to be rich or have rich friends. So a big campaign budget is priority #1. I'm on it.
Murray, please take my advice
You are going down the wrong path with the slash and burn tactics those around you have promoted. You have to remember, you can be 100% correct in what you say, yet find that your words have a negative impact because of the manner in which they are said.
Murray, you're basically a nice guy with a lot of good ideas. You are also a bit off beat for a politician, which can oftentimes come off as charming to the electorate. Your model should be Paul Wellstone, not Ron Paul. Wellstone's initial campaign for Senate was brilliant in that he portrayed himself with humor and humility. His commercials were endearing and he ran as the ultimate political outsider possessed of fresh new ideas. If you take this approach, you will contrast incredibly well with the inanimate, sour puss octagenarian Lautenberg. On the other hand, if you come across as an avenging angel of the right, you'll diminish your most profound strength.
You wrote a book in which you analogized socio-economic roles to the castaways on Gilligan's Island. This is a masterful way of using a concept everyone can relate to in order to explain a far more complex construct. Use this type of whimsical vehicle to to your advantage in the campaign. People eat this stuff up. And, to be honest, if they like you, they tend to vote for you. Be the lovable professor who has devoted himself to understanding financial issues that cry out for resolution. Be the teacher who has dedicated his life to shaping the minds of future generations so that they can build our great nation. Be a candidate who can run circles around Senator Somnambulance on the issues and can go untainted to Washington and uphold our shared values.
Just don't be the jerk that you've been painted as by your campaign staff.
Shock and awe
Best guess is Sabrin is trying to avoid being ignored. Talking loud, while some will complain about, will often lead to discussion.
Playing nice when the party bosses want to ignore you is not effective.
And since many of the GOP rank and file have no love for the party bosses that keep serving up pro-choice, pro-tax, pro-spend, pro-illegal immigration, anti 2nd amendment liberals with cash, Dr. Sabrin's press releases are not commuicating what we didn't already know.
It's time to debate. No matter who your candidate is, or what one thinks about the other candidates, the GOP voters need to see a debate with all the candidates.
If the GOP avoids the debate issue, then the rank and file have to wonder why.
FYI: Its "you have NO clue" btw.
Sabrin = Big Lulz for non-retardz
Luke Skywalker: (About to climb into starfighter, about to attack first Death Star) This will be just like old times!
Biggs: (Joyful, trumphant, to Luke) Nothing can stop us now!
[Cut to: scenes of fighters alighting into space.]
4' 37" later . . .
Ground Control: Group, we've picked up a group of enemy fighters.
Biggs: Arrghh (as his starfighter is erased in hail of tie-fighter laser bolts).
Now, to really enjoy this thought experiment: replace "Luke" with ANY Democrat candidate. Replace variable "Biggs" with Murray Sabrin.
Sit back, enjoy major lulz.
p.s. Sabrin's supporters are Porkins. ("Stay on target, stay on target . . they came from behnd . . . )
