Lautenberg questions wife as candidate, and Andrews still wants debates

TRENTON - The Lautenberg campaign today took exception to Andrews's people describing the congressman's kickoff as an event reserved for family as opposed to politicians.

"Camille Andrews is a politician," said Lautenberg spokesperson Julie Roginsky of the candidate's wife, who's running for her husband's District 1 congressional seat, and who stood with Andrews in Trenton today.

Answering criticism that he appears to be installing Camille Andrews as a placeholder while he runs for the U.S. Senate, the congressman repeated his promise to not reclaim his House seat should he fail in his June 3 primary bid against Lautenberg.

He also lashed out at the senator for trying to make Camille Andrews a campaign issue.

"It does say something odd about a 24-year incumbent senator who's talking about his opponent's wife," said Andrews, who today again called on Lautenberg to debate him.

The congressman said he has accepted debate invitations from NJN News, the Associated Press, the Press of Atlantic City and Stockton College, all impartial referees, in his estimation.

He has yet to hear from the senator, Andrews told reporters on Monday.

Dana Redd.

Dana Redd would make a great candidate for Congress, actually so would Ms Andrews. But, who gets the line? Who would choose who gets the line? Both women are smart and ready for the next challenge. What does Ms Redd have to do to get in the game? Dana is not a placeholder. Who is the decider?

Andrews also promised not to take Lautenberg's seat

Why trust him this time? It was just months ago that Andrews "promised" not to run for the Senate and now he is "promising" not to claim his House seat as a safety net.  A Rob Andrews promise is about as reliable as a George Bush "Mission Accomplished."

Frank, why do you attack a females candidate?

I thought you were pro female and had support of female US Senators. Unless, females in power are different than females wanna-be-politicians? These you do not have to support?
