NEWARK – The demonstration of sheer labor power behind Central Ward council candidate Eddie Osborne sent a tremor through the allies of Charles Bell.
But now that darkness has fallen over the city, Bell says his people command the streets and they’re working hard up until the end.
“All of Eddie’s union help climbed back into their buses and skipped town,” said Bell, a former councilman, who’s running with the support North Ward Councilman Steve Adubato, state Sen. Ronald Rice (D-Essex), and former Mayor Sharpe James.
“I’m tired, but I feel well,” said Bell, who sustained a barrage of negative advertising throughout the short campaign.
Adubato and Rice allies assisted Bell in the big Central Ward as he faced a conglomerate of union support and Mayor Cory Booker’s political operatives with Osborne.
In the Northern portion of the Central Ward in particular, where Adubato wields strength in about ten districts, North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos and other Adubato allies helped get out the vote for Bell.
They also relied on the efforts of their absentee ballot experts in the lead-up to Eelction Day.
