Responding to a post in PoliticsNJ.com's The Inside Edge, Assemblyman Richard Merkt says that Susan Bass Levin should find a place to live in New Jersey, and cancel plans to live in New York City. "I find it ironic -- and more than a bit disturbing -- that someone just nominated by Governor Corzine to be New Jersey's Port Authority commissioner should reportedly be looking to move to New York. Commissioner Bass Levin is being nominated to represent New Jersey's interests in the Port Authority, yet, at the very moment she is being named for such an important task, she is apparently looking to take up residence in the other state in the Port Authority compact," Merkt said. "I would urge Commissioner Bass Levin to remain a New Jersey resident so long as she represents our state in the Port Authority.
"Appearances matter for public officials, and it simply does not look right to the people of New Jersey to have their Port Authority commissioner residing in a state whose interests periodically conflict with those of New Jersey," said Merkt.

Lautenberg
How about Lautenberg? He lives in NY. Maybe Levin and Lautenberg can get an apartment in Camden to see first-hand what a good job the state is doing cleaning that area up.
New state motto
"Even our political appointees can't wait to get the hell out."
Is she starting a New York office for Cherokee
Hey, Susan. While your at it. take Ceberio and Kaiser with you.
starting to wonder..
So is Corzine also living in Manhattan? It wouldn't suprise me if it weren't for that mansion..
Sublet in Hoboken?
Maybe there's a vacancy now that the Governor is in Drumtwacket
Hoboken
Maybe Carla can get her a below market unit in the T Building.

Well, maybe...
she just wants to take full advantage of all the toll money dumped into non-transportation and non-port business by NY's Governor. Do city residents get a discount at the botanical gardens?
Levin
We have a long tradition of NJ Dems moving to New York City- seems we had a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court living there too-
When Tom Kean was governor he made GOP appointees live back in their New Jersey home county and commute daily to Trenton - say does this mean Levin pays New York Income and Sales Taxes but collects double in her NJ Pension?
Levin in NJ ? We'd all benefit if she moved to Alaska
The further away the better ! Let her be a pest in Anchorage .
nothing wrong with NYC apt
Dear Asm. Merkt: Please explain to us how having Susan Bass Levin commute from Cherry Hill to Manhattan everyday (about 90 miles) would be beneficial to New Jerseyans.
I think she'd get a little more work done not sitting in 4+ hours of traffic everyday. Too much time on the highways can be a problem (See Corzine, Jon S.).
Susan Bass Levin
Instead of focusing on where someone may take a second residence. Why don't you consider that Ms Levin is highly qualified for this position and will represent the concerns of the people of New Jersey.I doubt that Ms Levin would take on the expense of another residence unless it was necessary. If you know the work ethic of Ms Levin you would know she will never get to see the "lights of Broadway" unless they project them in a conference room.
Levin to leave NJ!
Great! Every minute she spends out of the state is to the benefit of NJ. The question we should be asking is: "How do we get her to sell her home in Cherry Hill?"
