Michigan Congressman says NJ GOP pollster playing both sides

The pollster for the New Jersey Assembly Republicans is now in the middle of a major controversy in Michigan, where an incumbent Congressman has filed a complaint alleging that his challenger in the GOP primary has coordinated expenditures with the conservative Club for Growth by having Adam Geller poll for both the campaign and the 527 organization. Geller works for Tim Walberg, a conservative who is challenging freshman Joe Schwarz for the Republican nomination in the August 7 primary.

The Club for Growth typically backs conservative candidates against more moderate incumbents in Republican primaries. They backed Scott Garrett against Marge Roukema in 2000. Geller conducted the CFG poll in the Rhode Island Senate race, where incumbent Lincoln Chafee faces tough primary and general election battles.

Meh, he can stay over there as far as I'm concerned. Let him screw with the Michigan Republicans and leave New Jersey alone.

A whole hell of a lot of good he's done for Assembly Republicans!

The Club for Growth apparently likes the prospect of losing seats to the Dems. I understand that Schwarz in Michigan may have benefited last time from a crowded primary...but Chafee?! A conservative Republican cannot possibly win in Rhode Island.

An interesting aspect of the Rhode Island GOP primary is that numerous Dems and unaffiliated voters are registering as Republicans to help ensure a Chafee victory.

Adam used to work for Jamestown Associates - a Republican PR/Campaign/Media firm based in Princeton. Larry Weiztner is the lead there. They did/do Mike Ferguson's stuff as well as others. Adam left approximately 4 years ago to start his own polling firm. I used to work with him in my previous job.

That's Weiztner who wrote the Dick Zimmer's "KKK" radio spot against Mike Pappas?

The ad cost DZ his run against Holt.

Geller's on the Good Guys side this time, for once. Schwarz is a rabid pro-abort and Geller's candidate is a solid pro-Lifer. He probably has to wash his hands several times after talking to these guys.
