Moriarty states he is for the taxpayers and working families, but voting record states different

Washington Township - Assemblyman/Mayor Paul Moriarty has stated in an article that appeared in the New Report September 13, 2007, claiming he has stood up for the taxpayers and working families of New Jersey. His voting record proves he has not held the line on spending, nor has he shown fiscal responsibility. This is exactly what is wrong with New Jersey, too many times our legislators have voted yes with reckless abandon for bills that are revenue intensive with complete disregard for how they will be funded. If every person in New Jersey ran their personal finances the way the state has been running theirs, we would be a society of bankrupt individuals.

"What I have seen in Assemblyman Moriarty's voting record is the usual practices that has plagued this state for years. In Bill A4712 Moriarty voted yes to take $50 million from the States Disability Benefits Fund and put that money into the General Fund. This is nothing more than the continuing practices of robbing Peter to pay Paul." "I am completely against monetization, sale or lease of any State Assets," stated Agnes Gardiner. "My opponent voted yes to Bill S3000 allowing fund to be appropriated for fees and services associated with the preparation of monetization of the toll roads, which is the same as Moriarty giving Governor Corzine a blank check. This is more evidence of fiscal irresponsibility on my opponent's record. With these examples of his voting record, How can Moriarty claim that he is standing up for the taxpayers of New Jersey?" asked Gardiner.

"What in his record has been proactive for the 4th Legislative District or for the State? The Bills I have viewed in which he was the First Primary Sponsor, in many cases were designed at the expense of the State Employees. Many of Moriarty's sponsored bills such as A3496, A3509, A3510, and A3505 are not standing up for the best interest of the taxpayers and working families of the 4th Legislative District," said Gardiner

"Assemblyman Moriarty is exactly what is wrong with this State and is typical of the fiscal irresponsibility that has become the norm in New Jersey. What Moriarty stood up for hasn't been good for New Jersey's working families or taxpayers," concluded Gardiner.
