One week before the primary election, New Jersey County Clerks resisted the temptation to extend their Memorial Day vacations by an extra day.
A PoliticsNJ.com attendance check today showed that with one exception—Acting Hudson County Clerk Mary Jane Desmond -- all were working today.
Desmond’s secretary said she had a medical emergency, though her Chief of Staff was less clear, referring all questions to Desmond herself. Acting Warren County Clerk Patricia Kolb was not in her office today, but her staff said she was attending meetings.
Both Desmond and Kolb are running in contested primaries next week. -- Matt Friedman
